The longest part was to do my backups and download the file.

The update itself took a few seconds.

My update froze the first time. I restarted the Kronos, then it went smoothly the second time.

Had to run twice. Ran smooth both times, but didn't take until second run.

Did you copy all of the files from the folder? The thing that will make this happen is if the "mnt" folder was not copied.

Maybe next time Korg should add just a dummy file in there so people will copy it anyway.

unzip vs zipped files for 1.5 update

Post by paterrob »

Mutter wrote:hi i speculate that the people that had to run it twice were using un zip files as was posted by some other thread but the korg instructions said to un zip the files which i did and both of my units only took one try. could not have been easier Jerry
Can anyone give me the download for dummies scenerio (especially the unzipping and what exactly to copy to the USB stick) as I have never had a problem with my Kronos and don't want to start now.

Also, in other forums they talk about moving the Kronos Update 1.5 ".taz.gz" file (unzipped) but why is mine called the ".tar.gz" and then once I move it to the USB stick the ".gz" is dropped from the description. This makes me extremely worried about going any further with the update.

Anyone with the time and patience who can guide me throught this procedure would be greatly appreciated

I had to run the file twice - smooth both times but needed to be done twice. All is well in 1.5 so far!

My update went very quickly; however the instructions were not very clear causing me a little anxiety in trying to guess. I see the exact files to be transferred has been posted on this forum. Also, so far, knock on wood, the note cutting off problem seems to be gone or diminished. The new functionality and sound banks and programs are a huge step forward.

My update was quick and went smoothly. It seems to have cured some of the lag in my screen changes.

I just followed the instructions posted on the forum, which were pretty clear to me. The one thing I made sure I did was to format the USB stick on the Kronos in FAT32 before trying the update.

I think the instructions were correct, but not very well written. A little more emphasis on the details of step 5 would have been nice. Either way, after a few failed attempts, a successful attempt came.

Thanks for the update.

Update on my update to 1.5: experienced my first glitch: combination switching to a new random one in the midst of playing. Also, the note cutting off seems far less present, but still present.
