I tore mine apart last night to see how they are built and I have to say pretty well. It also fits on the K88 pretty good for not being designed specifically for it.

You should not use this as a stylus:

But seriously, thanks for analyzing the pad, I don't have one but it has much more potential than I thought ... maybe I should think of getting one too.

Received my nanopad yesterday and plugged it in - worked well right away.

Nice features - like the XY pad.

Seems to do more than the on screen pads and differently too in some ways.

The XY pad adds something extra though its somewhat unpredictable.

But I quite like that.

Today I have received my new nanopad and it is faulty I have all the time sustained notes, and the hold buttom was not pressed. I had test the cable, performed a reset, and when I shake the nanopad the sustained notes dissapears, also tested in to the computer and does not work correctly.
I am in 1.5 OS and USB port A, I had send and email to the place were I bought for a change. I was thinking to get the nanopad 2.

What is better for the kronos, the nanopad or the nanopad 2?

Thanks.

IMHO, nanopad 2.

But, take the nanopad apart and you'll see how freaking simple it is to fix your issue in about 5 seconds. You have a circuit board with a rubber membrane that sits above it. That's it. Whatever is rolling around can be removed very easily.
Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).

WOW, the nanopad is a LOT different than the Nanopad 2. A LOT less parts in the nanopad 2.

Congrats on getting it fixed though. You'll love it with the Kronos!

MC Hale, Does the kontrol editor works with the Nanopad 2 for you? Here it doesn't, it says no midi port... (i've installed everything correctly, when i plug in the nanopad2 into the computer is can see it's connected, but it doesn't work with the editor (i've got all latest versions).
Very annoying... :-(

yes.

Could just be something goofy with how your PC and the drivers are interacting. The Kontol editor works with all the nano products (my nanokey and nanoKontrol are the originals and the nanoPad is the 2nd version).

I had the same problems with the Korg MIDI driver (the MIDI driver didnt apear). it fails for the Kronos and the Nanopad, only when I had disable my bluetooth controler from my system properties I resolved my problem but was timeconsuming.
Also I am a experienced user in PC Studio computers, it could be a nightmare for others.

MC Hale,
Thanks, it works on my laptop, not on my PC. I will figure it out somehow, but again i'm blown away by Korg: it works directly and does exactly what i want.

My guess, and I'm not a PC kind of guy, is that you have too many drivers loaded.
I keep reading that you have to off-load some of the drivers that you aren't using.
I gorget what the number is that your PC won't see them if it's over populated..

Or, you can simply buy a Mac! :D

The driver limitation problem affects Windows XP - There is a limitation of ten on the number of midi devices that XP will recognise.

There is a an article here about the problem:

http://www.rme-audio.de/en_support_tech ... q_10entryd

M-Audio have a utility called Midifix (available from M-audio web site) and Roland have a utility called something like Cleanall (on the Roland web-site) which will remove all the Roland drivers from the system.

I used the excellent Korg Midi driver removal tool that came with an earlier version of the Korg driver. The nice thing about the Korg driver is that you can check a box and all the other drivers used by XP will become visible (not greyed out) and they can also be removed - (be careful not to remove the sound drivers used by Media-player or whatever media playing devices you use.

What I liked about the Korg driver removal tool was that I didn't need to go into the registry and manually mess about in there - though it's worth having a look in the registry just to see all the stuff that is in there.

It may be available somewhere in the Korg archives.

There are also a couple of article in Sound-on -sound dealing with driver removal for soundcards.

Like this one:
http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/mar05/a ... cian.htm#7

See the section called "The 10-entry Device Driver Limit" about 2/3 rds of the way down.

Reading through this just explains to me why I've never been able to uninstall the 'orrible Soundblaster soundcard drivers that came with my Desktop even though I removed the card years back.
