New Kronos 88 Owner

Post by d3k »

I have been reading this forum for the past couple months and while at a local Guitar Center yesterday, I got a chance to play with the 88-key and couldn't resist the opportunity given to me to buy the floor model that was there at a discount.

I had played with it for about an hour and could not reproduce the key cutoff issue using any of the grand pianos (although after getting home I did repro a few times but it was hard to repro for me -- but I will save that for the dedicated thread).

Anyhow, because it was the floor model, it did not have the box and GC is still looking for the manual/dvd/etc for me as it had been stored in the back and they could not find it yesterday.

I was wondering if it's possible to get the DVD download from somewhere? I am currently running the 1.07 OS and I would like to have a copy of the DVD before attempting an upgrade to 1.5 as I have read about the boot failures and the need to restore from DVD if that happens.

Also outside of the manual (which I can download via PDF) what else comes with the boxed unit that I may be missing?

Thanks!

Oh, and are the serial numbers sequential? Mine is in the 0013xx range which I am assuming means I've purchased the 13xx'th one produced?

As far as I know, the numbers are sequential.

I do like GC (no flame war here please) but the seem to always lose the accessories 'in the back'!

Congratulations on your new board! I've had mine since July and love it more and more over time.

Yes, the serial numbers are consecutive.

If you didn't get the little cardboard spacers that go between the keybed and the metal rail in the front of the board, you should recreate them. They come from the factory and the instructions tell you to replace them anytime you move the keyboard. I think this is to prevent accidentally pushing this rail into the keys or bending it. There is another thread on the forum from a few months ago about these spacers. You may want to check out that thread. There is a photo there of the original spacers. I would think that you can make them out of a thick cardboard with no problem.

It does sound like the DVD is important. I wonder if you could get customer support to replace it if you have documentation from GC that they misplaced it?

Have fun,
Chris

No, I'm just paranoid (for no good reason) about leaving IDs online so the XX in 0013XX is jut blacking out two digits :)

Thanks. I will recreate the spacers and call support about the DVD if GC can't find it.
