Well it was time to access those extra banks that the update provides ... so having prepared the USB stick and zip file & waiting a month before I needed the extra banks, I upgraded the OS to 1.5.0 ...
And I have to say that it was the easiest upgrade I've ever done ... took less than a minute

I am a new use to these forums and predominantly a Roland USER. Thank you for the info on the update. I have just completed update and found it to be very smooth and quick. Much appreciated with the advice!
You can just read the items in bold if you want the short version!
OK want to close the loop on this once an for all. My Kronos is back updated and working great! I was without it for 2 months but I am glad it was a defective part and not an issue multiple users are having that is yet unsolved.
I really want to thank Dan at Korg here on the forum and also Max who is the support person I worked with when I called the Korg support number. They really helped me out big time!
Issue & background...Got the Kronos 88 at the end of September and it worked fine until December. I would turn the Kronos 88 on and it would work fine but once I shut it off it would not work until about 24 hours later. Strange? After trying a few different ideas from Korg Support they suggested taking it to an authorized reseller. They tried RAM, then a hard drive and neither fixed the problem. The local tech worked with Korg and they determined their was a capacitor on the motherboard that was bad. When I turned it on it called for 5 volts but once I shut it off it would still retain the 5 volts making booting it up again impossible because it was holding the 5 volts the motherboard needed to provide the system to boot. Letting it sit for a long period of time would let the voltage disapate and then it would work again. I am not an electronics expert but it sounded good enough for me.
Motherboard was replaced and the keyboard works perfect again!
If you are located anywhere near Northeast MA High Tech Electronics is awesome and did a great job.
Just wanted this to be on the forum in case any other user has this issue they can skip to the end and will not have to wait as long as I did. - Bill
