Warranty Repair Time

Post by Uncle Scritch »

I bought a M50 last year and had it about 2 months and the audio outputs went out.

The dealer contacted Korg Warranty service and sent it off for repair.

So far I have been about 2 months without a keyboard.

I guess the question is how long is a "reasonable" time to expect to receive a fixed keyboard back from service?

Not two months, unless they excplicitly note it can take that long.

Why not email/call them every week to ask for more info; I would do that. Also request for a warranty extension for the period you don't have the M50.

Thank you for the reply.

I've been keeping in touch with the dealer, but the communication from the repair shop is sparse at best.

I understand if a part is backordered or something like that, but not knowing anything makes me nervous.

That's a good idea about the warranty extension.

Thanks.

Maybe you should ask for a replacement meanwhile (I assume you bought it at a shop that gives warranty)

two months seems too long time, at elast w/o having any info on the reason.

i had my m50 sent to repair center due to the well-known freezing problem and they kept it 4 weeks btw

Today the dealer contacted someone higher up the food chain (Korg distributor, I believe)and it turns out the problem with the repair shop was that they couldn't get the replacement part.

I'm not sure why this wasn't communicated sooner, but nonetheless we've got another party involved in the search so maybe it will be taken care of soon.

Thanks for the responses.

I'll update this thread when something more develops.

Update:
Finally, a "new part" was found and installed in the keyboard. Apparently, that part was faulty and a new part has been ordered and in transit.

The repair tech also spent some time talking with a Korg tech about the problem.

So, as it stands now, waiting for another part and will see if it fixes the problem.

Will update when anything changes.

After 3 whole months, I have my M50 back and it appears to be working correctly again.

It appears the main problem was lack of replacement parts in my case.
