"Sticking" Keys

Post by bamboozer »

This is hard to describe, on a 61 key unit the second octave from the top has three or four problem keys (G,G#,A,A#). On start up one or more will not work, after a bit of a warmup they start to work, this is where it gets really wierd. If you tap the key in staccato fashion it sounds fine, but hold it down longer and the release part of the envelope holds on, sometimes noticeably. Even stranger the keys affected vary from start up to start up. This applies to all patches in prog and combo. I returned it for warrantee but the repair man was helpless, I'd say hopeless but he was a nice guy. Sounds like a software issue, if it was a key contact I pretty sure it would consistently be the same keys. Any ideas? I suspect it's time to bundle it up and ship it back to Korg.

Maybe some dirt or something that is moving under the keys is creating the problem. You could try open it up and check if you can find something that does not belong there.

I have a 88 key and I thought one of my keys was sticking. Well I found out it is the thing metal bottom cover causing it. Push down on the edge where the keys are sticking and see if that helps.
