Sonatina Strings for Kronos
Below is a sample-set based on the public domain Sonatina Orchestra. These use the same samples that Sharp posted a few weeks back. The difference is I limited the KSC to only string samples (and no round robin variations) in order to get the size down for people who only want strings. These were recorded in stereo so I brought the WAVs into the Kronos in stereo. The .KSC is 86MB in size. It includes sustain, staccato and pizzicato for 1st/2nd violin, viola (sustain and pizz only), cello and bass sections. There is also a solo violin.
I created multisamples based on each of the articulations listed above. In addition I created some hybrid ensemble multisamples. Ensemble1 consists of 1st violins and cellos. Ensemble 2 includes 2nd violin, violas and basses. There are sustain, staccato and pizzicato versions of these ensemble multisamples. This allows you to create larger sounding strings at the program level without the need to create a combi.
All the multisamples play within their normal lower limits. This allows you to place, for example, violins and violas in the same osc without the issue of violins playing out of their range.

Thank you for sharing your work, burningbusch.
I downloaded the zip file successfully. But now I´m wondering how to load the library to my brandnew Kronos. Have to say, I´m a newbie to the Korg/Kronos stuff, so please bear with my stupid question. I´m aware that I have to load both files to the Kronos, the pcg-file for Combis and programs and the ksc-file for samples. But the ksc-file only has 2 kb and there´s another folder in the download named “Sonatina_Strings”, containing the samples I guess.
Could someone please provide a step by step instruction how to properly load the sample-set to the Kronos? Thank you very much!!!

DoubleM,
It's pretty easy. I will assume you've copied the Sonatina-Strings folder to the SSD. It can be loaded from the USB-drive, but it's much faster from the SSD.
Goto DISK and click on the LOAD tab. Find the .KSC file and click LOAD.
You will be presented with a dialog box with options.
In the Select .KSC Allocation field select "Clear RAM."
You can load the PCG file from here as well by clicking on the check box at the top.
If you leave the "PCG Contents" field at the default setting of ALL, the PCG file WILL OVERWRITE anything you have in USER-G Program area. USER-G is the default bank where many programs will load because it is the only bank that's empty in the original Kronos.
If you would like to store the PCG file in a different user bank, change the "PCG Contents" field to BANK U-G and the "to:" field to the bank into which you want it loaded.
Here's the key: The PCG data will remain where ever you put it. When you power up the Kronos the next time, those string programs will be in that bank. The KSC file will not be loaded by default. You can manually load it,using the method above (no need to load the PCG a second time) or you can have it load every time your Kronos starts.
To do this goto GLOBAL and KSC AUTO-LOAD. Click on the ADD KSC. Find the SONATINA_STRING.KSC and select ADD. Make sure the RED BOX is selected. Now the .KSC will load every time.
Once. you've done this, the string programs and samples will be playable every time your Kronos starts up.

I tried to copy the downloaded files in the Sonata-Strings folder on my usb-stick to the SSD, but failed a few times. Kronos always says: "Folder not found".
What am I doing wrong here?
