Still having keybed problems
I got my Kronos 73 in late February, but a few weeks ago I noticed the note cutoff problem on C3. I sent it back to the dealer, who sent it to Korg UK, and a couple of weeks later it came back. I think that issue is fixed, so that is great.
However, I also thought that I needed to turn the volume a bit higher than before, so I connected it up to Logic Pro to take a look at the velocity indicator, and it looked like I couldn't get it higher that around 114. Today, I loaded the Orchestra & Timpani combi, which has timpani velocity switched. I couldn't get the timpani to trigger. So I reduced the bottom velocity for it to 90, and it triggered. Then gradually increased the bottom velocity, and indeed I can no longer trigger it above around 114/115. I think I would need a sledgehammer to get it to 127, if it is possible at all.
I use velocity curves 4 and 9. So it seems this new keybed had restricted dynamics. I could certainly get the timpani to play with the original keybed. Anybody else know about this? I'm disappointed that there is yet another problem with the keybed, I have to say.

I've just tried that (I've just have fixed my keybed) and can confirm this issue here, not too bad for me. I'm using velocity curve 9
I tend to think it's a little more difficult to get the Timpani. But certainly not that hard.

I noticed similar velocity limitations after my keybed was replaced. And interestingly enough I also use settings 4 and 9, as well as sometimes 3.
I have not checked in any DAW to see what it's doing. Just noticed that whatever velocity setting I use does not give me the full range.
3 allows for soft velocity, but even pounding the keys gets no high velocity.
4 gives me a bit higher velocity response, but soft velocity is hard to achieve.
9 seems to give more of a range, but the curve is dramatic so there is no control.

Sorry to hear there are still troubles.
A bit offtopic: since people are using various velocity curve settings, Korg should really think about having a velocity curve setting per program (and using each different one in a combi or a velocitiy curve setting in the combi too).

Ok, that range of serial number still has defective keybed..Alunap wrote:#001674
I was experimenting with other curves yesterday, and I can get almost a full range with curve 6. At least it goes up to about 124/125. This is not as it was originally, where all the curves were pretty much usable, but 4 was the best. This keybed seems particularly stiff and insensitive.
when they replaced your keybed did they also update your system too??
and have you tried factory reset to fix the problem??
i always do factory reset if something goes awkward with my keyboard, and it does fix it

Love my kronos 88
Love my yamaha psr s910 as well

OK, so I take it 'reset to factory settings' without using the CD means using the preload files? I actually have it automatically load the preload.ksc anyway, but now I loaded the preload.sng, and got it to pull in all associated files and clear ram and exi. It did indeed revert my global settings to factory and everything else. Problem is still there, the timpani is set to come it at 113, and I can just manage that, and risk of injuring my fingers. Going to curve 6 I can get it to 125, which isn't bad, but it does mean this is the only usable curve.
