Latest serial numbers?

I know there are other threads that allowed us to share our serial numbers. There is even a thread on karma-lab. Both places don't seem to be up to date any more. I was simply curious about the latest (highest) numbers lately. My Kronos 88 is 99.

The highest that I have found seem to be:

Kronos 61 - 3946
Kronos 73 - 2417
Kronos 88 - 3790

I did find a Kronos 61 #7131 but none others in that range. So wonder if that's a typo.

Are the numbers mutually exclusive? So there cannot be a Kronos 61 and a Kronos 88 with the same serial number?

I believe I've read that no, they are not mutually exclusive, and that reporting a s/n without the model is not accurate. Each s/n can be used three times, once for each model.

My k88 from last December was s/n 3073 so your numbers are definitely old.

My brand new Kronos 88 is 3365.

That would sound logically, otherwise the 3 max serial numbers would not differ that much.

each keyboard variation has its own set of Serial numbers, so for example there is a Kronos 61, 73, and 88 all with Serial number 1,000.

If you look at Oasys or Kronos owner pages at Karma Lab, you can conclude 61 key versions are the highest sellers, followed by 88 key versions, followed by 73/76 key versions.

I am not looking for an exact #, just a fair estimate. I would think there are at least a few hundred, in dealer/disti inventory

Actually, I'd have to say the highest K88 serial number of 3764, as that is my serial number.

I suspect that the numbers are distributed globally in a rather non-structured way with containers going to certain regions having ranges of numbers. My K61, purchased a couple of weeks ago, is in the 58xx range. I would therefore say that #7131 isn't at all impossible.

Just curious- assuming 12-15,000 Kronoi sold, is that likely a high water mark for good selling workstations these days?

IIRC, Korg sold 200,000 M1s, which must have been inspiring. That allowed them to buy their stock back from Yamaha. It would be fascinating to know the sales target points that Korg needs to meet over the first 5 years of product life.

For example, 10,000 to break even on R&D and rolling the product out, 20,000 to be a solid money maker, 30,000 to be an unqualified success and be able to justify commiting serious engineering resources to significantly upgrade the OS.

Given the pace of the rollout of the OS upgrades, Editor, etc., I'm guessing that there's almost a back burner kind of attention paid. I wonder what it would take to put it on a front burner. Such that the potential to be an all time best seller was real for Korg, and they decided to do some of the more obvious things, like the sequencer, that would round out capabilities in the studio and live.

Cello's evolutionary summary...insightful and extremely accurate. When you look at 10,000+ units x $3000(approx. of course)=Getting close to hitsville. My is k61 19xx.
