How much of the Kronos's Brain have you used?

Post by runningman67 »

After owning your Kronos for up to a year'ish, how much have you used of the 'K's potential / capabilities ?

Hard to quantify, i know but I have gone 'up to' 60%, the final 40% and more, has to be the Karma learning curve and sampling.

I've been thinking about my own question and I think 60% is probably to much, nearer to the 41% mark, if that

I suppose the Kronos has such depth that you can only really squeeze what 'you' need from it. Not enough hours in the day to truly conquer the beast. Apart from the developers of course, and Dan and the boys etc.... :D

I use up to about 20% at the mo...

I've used very little of its functionality.... as yet!!! But that will change. This keyboard will be with me for a few years to come (my triton classic lasted me about 12 years!!!!). :D
Gig Gear = Korg Kronos 61(down to 1 keyboard at gigs... Its great!!)
Gear at home - Studiologic SL-880(primarily used for Piano feel for Kronos... Nice!!!), Korg Triton Classic 61 (Moss, SCSI, 64ram), Korg 01/Wfd, Roland Juno 6.

I haven't voted as not a Kronos owner, but as a little benchmark - I've had my OASYS a little over 2 years now. I play it every day.

Combining sampling, sequencing. Karma then sound programming (at prog and combi levels), with 3rd party libraries as well as Korg's; I'd say I've got to grips with about 20% of what the O can do.

Every day it surprises me what it can do - when I go exploring. Unfortunately, I know I don't have the time to explore it the way it deserve to be!

Don't give me that  stuff! I've heard what you do and it's seriously good music. MUSIC. Doesn't matter in the end whether you know 1% or 61% of a keyboard, it's what you do with it that counts ;) and you need have no worry in that department :)

I have no urge to learn everything about the O - I just want to learn to make it do what I want it to do... <sigh> that's the bit - for me - that may take some time; but I have such joy trying to get there :)

Cheers cello .
Only jesting and I think you are equally modest.
I just learn as I need to.
It amazes me the technical knowledge of some of the forum members.

There should be a 0% option, for those of us struggling with keybed issues. I'm still waiting for delivery of a unit that will work properly - after all these months.

I have some sample libraries so that counts quite a lot (relatively) to SSD usage. For the rest, some PCG files (mostly backups) are residing. I don't sequence, so it's not going to grow a lot and the Kronos memory is already filled up.

Nicely said, Cello - fully agree!
