It is easier if you sell your fantom and save some money for the kronos and even get the x imo. Or if you are a roland guy get the jupiter 50 and happy days. Whatever suits your turf really. Hopping fo a swap is too difficult as you will find a lot of people only giving you $500 for your roland so it is easier for you to sell on ebay for $1,000,00 - $1,400,00.
Well please go look at how many idiots there are... because there a certainly many Fantom gs selling for $2000+ in eBay.....

Dude, I flogged a G6 a few months ago. It was about a year old, mint condition and with a memory upgrade, bla, bla.. For £1200.

I saved a little and got what I REALLY wanted (Kronos).

Do yourself a favour, sell the G6 quick for whatever you can reasonably get and move up to the top shelf.

Kronos IS good and worth every £.

Asking for a Kronos swap is basically madness (especially on this forum), but you just have to face facts; you got the wrong board at the wrong time and now you're regretting it. Your next step will cost you a little more, but it will be worth it in the end. BEST OF LUCK.

 this thread has got so many comments... I think I know why

Well it's a good idea to clearly write how much is the OP willing to pay for the swap. How much for each version: 61/73/88

Because reading the post, looks like this is a straight swap and therefore it looks like:

:3drofl:

Anyway this may result an effective marketing approach: 250+ views just on 1 day :o

if you guys would go and look at the completed listing of Fantom G keyboards on eBay you'll see that he's really not that far off...

The completed list on eBay (USA), showing just sold items, shows that the Roland Fantom G6 is going for about $1,550.00 USD

Similarly, the Kronos 61 keys is going from $2,100.00 USD

So, the suggestions given to the OP are right: straight swap =

If you add the fact that many guys here consider Kronos to be the best workstation available, more

If you consider that the majority of issues which caused some (not too few) guys to dump the Kronos for something else (which I don't recall was a Roland Fantom G in any of the posted threads here) is because of the faulty RH3 (73/88 ) keys, the price difference is clearly way more higher, so even more

:3drofl:

Anyway this is turning into a hot topic 300+ views :!:

yeah, I was looking at the g7 which is selling for more money because it's the 7 and there are far fewer of them around (especially for sale...)

I got $2600 for mine with the EP & drums expansion last summer... (and then I purchased a NEW SEALED IN BOX Motif XF for $2000

(this was right after or right before I got my Kronos)

So I came out WAY ahead.

But you never know what some guys are willing to do. $600 is not that much of a difference when you consider someone that doesn't like the Kronos... and believe me, there are guy out there like that...

Either way, it can't hurt to ask.
I actually had a guy send me a message on my eBay account asking me to donate one of the m3s that I have for sale to him.... it never hurts to ask.

Jur451c wrote:Obviously you guys are all big fans of the Kronos, however Apex is right that *sometimes* Fantom Gs have gone for more than Kronoses (should that be Kroni?) on ebay, you need to remember that some folks don't like the Kronos, or have had so many problems with it that they just want shot of it.
And really @vstkeys $500? thats about £4.50 isn't it? I dont think any Fantom owner would let one go for considerably less than a Juno....
I always think it's a shame that people are so quick to be judgmental on forums, I guess anonymity breeds bravado....
As a big Roland fan I think you wandered into the "kings suit of clothes" people on this forum.
Complete the phrase "The Kronos is the best thing since....."
Most would say "the creation of the universe".
Take no notice - only children argue about "my dad is bigger than yours".

The Kronos is a great synth but it is not without its' flaws and its' long term reliability is still under examination (by me at least).
As an example, the display uses ridiculously small fonts which render it difficult to use for anyone who doesn't own a magnifying glass.
Not everyone wants to use a PC running the editor.

Also it is far from intuitive, so finding your way around the OS is a pain.

However the best suggestion was that you sell your Fantom separately and then look for a Kronos deal - I imported mine to the UK from the US and saved £750.

I really have to disagree with this ... the font is maybe not good for people without reasonable eyes, but I don't have a problem with it at all (I wear contact lenses).

Also the OS is very intuitive. Actually without changing the OS flow since the Korg M1 (about 25 or so years ago) it still works very well. It maybe doesn't look spectacular always, but it does the job which is the most important.

The touch screen is really a good item, compared that most competitors don't have it.
