Kronos/KronosX hardware difference

Post by RobTky »

Apart from RAM and SSD size, is there any other hardware difference between Kronos and KronosX?

A red X serigraphy.

Unless Korg have kept something else quiet, there is no other difference.

The red X makes you think it's a new model, but it's just extra RAM and SSD size. The rest is the same, which will be confirmed as soon as we can open a Kronos X.

Thanks. That is indeed what it looks like from specs. Only RAM/SSD increase is ... well, still ok, but I am guessing there is very likely more than that.

Anyone from Korg reading this, wanting to comment? After all this is not a big secret, is it?

That's it. It's been discussed in about 15 other threads in the last week or so. Just scroll down (and go to the 2nd page) and you will find plenty of useful info.

I agree. I suspect that there is more to it than just the RAM/SSD. For example, perhaps a quieter fan. Time will tell.

Well, the RAM size is not different between KRONOS Ver.1.5 RAM Expanded and KRONOS X, they are same 3GB in total.
Also KRONOS series has 32bit OS so the RAM larger than 3GB+ can not be recognized.

OS1.5 is not that much related to the amount of RAM installed, except what is recognized. OS1.5 does not give a Kronos 3 GB (instead of the default 2GB).

Yeah, that's what I tried to explain. You need to have the RAM expanded physically, but that's with having Ver.1.5 installed to be recognized.

No other hardware differences have been officially mentioned.
