Thanks for the video ... I probably wait until the warranty is over before installing but I will check out this video in time again!

DoubleM wrote:Hi Sharp,

thanks for the info. Doesn´t look too difficult, but one more question:

Guessing the (yellow) connecting cable isn´t included when ordering a ssd, how long is the cable you used? Is 0,5 m sufficient?
I think I used an 18" but I'm not sure. Whatever it was it was the perfect lenght.
I will see if I can find the reciept.

For the less IT savvy of us, can you explain/detail how you did this?

Has anyone succeeded in putting a larger one inside (256GB+)? If I'm going to crack it open to add a new drive, I might as well go all out and put the biggest one I can find that's supported.

The only 250GB install I've seen on the forums was this, and it didn't work.

I also mentioned in the same thread installing a 256 Gg Samsung 470 series (SATA 2) successfully.

However, it is worth noting that the restore DVD cannot format drives bigger than 128 Gb, and that installation of a larger drive is not for the beginner. Cloning was difficult because some of the easier software such as Ghost or True Image didn't work. The free app CloneZilla did the job, but it is not as easy to use as Ghost/True Image or similar Windows apps.

But, it's possible.

Sharp, what did you have to do after installing the second drive, is it automatically recognised by the system which then offers to format it ? After the Kronos has started, do you have to select the drive in Disk and format it ? I'd like to know the procedure post fitting the drive inside the Kronos. Thanks.

I installed the drive, turned on the KRONOS. It booted as normal.

Went to disk mode and selected the new drive. At this point an error came up saying it couldn’t read from the media or something along those lines.

So I touched the tab in the top right and selected the option to format the drive.

Job done. Simple as that really.

OK, thanks.

So this means drives larger than 128 Gb still face the potential problem of the system not being able to format them.

I guess formatting the drive on a PC would solve that then.

Maybe, maybe not.
OS 2.0 does address a format issue where the system used to hang when formatting.
