Sounds great! I have a Question:

Post by latnjazfan »

So QR - Please permit me a simple question:

Am I to understand that you altered the tonal characteristics of the main Kronos Grand Piano to achieve the effects of each example and captured them (with rhythm and Karma) in to set lists?

As usual, you have a wonderful feel for the keyboard.

Again, thanks.
Love my Kronos 73. Got it October 2011. March 2016 bought SpaceStation v.3 and Behringer Sub-Woofer.

it's a little bit more complicated then that. What i did was creating new piano sounds with the SGX-1 Piano engine/ Since that SGX-1 piano has it's own programming parameters, i used this engine to get the sound from the piano that i had in mind.

But it doesn't stop there, if you look at the video from 7:30 and further you will see a screenshot of every program in the sound set. In most programs you can see that there is added a second EXI engine to add a sound to the piano (or electric piano), you can't always hear that sound directly but it adds harmonics to the orginal piano sound and that way changes the sound character of the piano.

Now we all know that when you play layered pianos where there is a pad sound beneath the piano (like in ambient / chill out music) that it's hard to get a open sound as soon as you use the hold pedal. This is because all those pad sounds notes conflict with eachother fighting for headroom in the sound. Also pad sound notes played in the upper register (for your solo work over the left hand arpeggios) can overpower the piano sounds quite easely.

All these problems are taken care of in this set. If you listen close to the video you will hear all the sounds blend perfectly into eachother which results in an atmospheric area around the leading piano sounds as shown in the video.

I hope this answers your question.

yes, you the payment handling is done by paypal and my account supports credit card payments.

still waiting for the account confirmation, but i contacted paypal support about it, so probably it's solved real soon.

of course, every program you hear and see in the video is included in the set.

I record the videos live by capturing the video during play and the Kronos sound directly from the kronos outputs. So what you see and hear is what you get, no extra post production tricks were added in a later stage in the videos.

small update:
this morning paypal finally converted my account to a business account, so the verification proces is halfway now. (it took a long time, but finally the most important step is done).

i've recorded a new piano soundset video this weekend, so that's also done. I've also recorded a 'jam video' where i improvise with some magic clouds sounds and the new IPAD Polysix app, this one i'm going to uplaod this week to my channel :)

So i'm aiming for next monday to open the shop, thanks for all your patience !

Are you still working on the 80's 90's soundset for us classic rock weekend warriors? Really hope so. The classic rock soundset for the Yamaha Motif series is outstanding. I'm really hoping the same will apply to the Kronos.

Big thanks, Qui, for the outstanding contributions you have made to this forum. Your videos are excellent.

yes, they are in progress, i saw the motif soundsets and the songs that were in there. So something simular will be available in the first quarter of 2013.

The hardest part is the song selection :D
