About a month ago I heard some sequences made by a Korg M1.
Of course the M1 can't catch up with the sound of the Extreme of the Kronos, but it is true that it is more important how the sequence is made than by what machine.
An M1 programmed/played by a good keyboardist sounds (still) way more better than a modern Kronos played by someone who barely can play.

I have the CD that Korg released "Best of O1/W" - it is really good, but you would expect Geoff Downs, Keith Emerson, Edde Jobson, Greg Phillinganes, Joe Zawinal, etc to make good efforts.michelkeijzers wrote:About a month ago I heard some sequences made by a Korg M1.
I am in the process of ordering a K61 - but I'm still using the Triton Classic on a regular basis and the sounds are so good to my ears. I sometimes use the orchestral and string combis and the sounds far exceed what anyone expects to come out of my silver-toy-looking box. I am aware the the Kronos will blow it away, but I have grown very fond of the some of the Combis over the years, especially the organs (A008, C008 & C072). I also love the analogue string pads, having heavily customised a number of them for certain songs (Pink Floyd anyone?) - hopefully something that the K61 will take to a new level.
There are some things I won't miss - the pianos are poor. I have a Yamaha P80 stage piano and I really don't think that the Triton can touch it - I know it all changes with the Kronos.

Never heard any unwanted distortion in the Tritons except for the kind you want with the Tube on the Extreme and Distortion Modulation FXLivePsy wrote:There's quite a bit of distortion in the triton sounds. Are you confusing Distortion with aliasing??

Now I feel really bad. I haven't powered up my other keyboards in a couple of months. My Kornos 73 just does it all so much better. In my studio I have a 3 level stand with my Kronos on the bottom, next up my Wavestation Ex and then a Roland U-20 on top. To my left I have my 88 key Korg Triton Pro-X with a non-working Polysix above it. (non-working until I get it fixed!). To my right I mave another Roland U-20 midied to a Proteus 2000 module.
I think it's time to get all of these working for a huge mess-terpiece!
They all have great sounds and now that you have all made me think about it, I have to wonder why I stopped using them when at one time, each and every one was an integral part of my sound.
Obviously, the Kronos is evil!
