Just to clarify, I'm requesting extra program slots, to store free patches/user patches.
Or perhaps a software update could include a simple naming system so if you save a named bank it is written to slot in that way, so it would only be overwritten if you chose to do so, in much the same way as when you purchase or make a user bank on a software synth it is stored and recalled as a named bank (rather than by letter) Eg, if you bought a patch bank called 'techno bank by geiger167' it would be stored and recalled like this rather than user g/gg/ggg etc. The same could be applied to combi banks so the associations to the bank would not be lost as they go with a named bank.
This is just placeholder information so I don't believe it would be particularly taxing on ram space etc. Hope the above makes sense, I have probably not explained it very clearly lol

When moving programs, all combis/set list slots using the program will fix the references to it. Also when moving combis, the set list slots using the combi will fix the references.ronnfigg wrote:Have you tried PCG tools? I believe it is supposed to help with the combi/programs issues by showing which combi uses which programs.
Also if you compact or sort programs, references will be fixed.
You can even copy combis/set list slots to other PCG files and references will be made whenever possible.

I think I understand what you would like but that's something for Korg to create. I don't think they will do it soon because the current bank structure has never really changed.geiger167 wrote:Just to clarify, I'm requesting extra program slots, to store free patches/user patches.

If you need more patches, it's possibly best to use multiple PCG files, one per project for example. You cannot load everything at once.
Btw, in PCG Tools you can do a nice trick: when you have a set list you are using, you can first create a completely empty PCG file (on your Kronos). Then load that empty and filled PCG file. Then copy the set list (containing upto 128 set list slots). PCG Tools automatically copies all necessary programs and combis to the clipboard. Then you can paste all programs, combis and set list slots in the empty PCG file and voila ...

I will try pgctools, I am a little confused which PGC file I need to open the program with though, is it the default one on the ssd which also is the file you load to reset the Kronos, or is there another location with a file which stores the current state of the Kronos I need to load ?michelkeijzers wrote:I think I understand what you would like but that's something for Korg to create. I have no real space issues with combi files yet, so If I move program files from there default places will PGCtools fix the Combi links automatically ?

PCG Tools is a (free) PC application developed by myself, it is not on your SSD (not possible). You can save your PCG file (Disk / save PCG file) , then load it in PCG Tools (after installing it of course), then change it within PCG Tools, save it and load it in the Kronos again.geiger167 wrote:I will try pgctools, I am a little confused which PGC file I need to open the program with though, is it the default one on the ssd which also is the file you load to reset the Kronos, or is there another location with a file which stores the current state of the Kronos I need to load ?michelkeijzers wrote:I think I understand what you would like but that's something for Korg to create. The current state of your Kronos is in a file that is hidden. However, you can save the current state in a PCG file or load a PCG file from SSD (or USB/whatever) to overwrite the current state.

Cool, I knew that the program was a pc tool (not on kronos) I just wasn't sure where to find the required PGC file (to save to my usb stick then transfer to PC to load it) I did as you suggested and made a test PGC file, all went well, will have a play with it in the program and try this route for my future patch saves - many thanks for your patient helpmichelkeijzers wrote:PCG Tools is a (free) PC application developed by myself, it is not on your SSD (not possible). Glad to help and good you learnt something ... btw, it is also possible to buy a USB Ethernet adapter (cost about $20 or so)... then you don't have to use an USB stick every time. It can also be used to put samples/PCG/SNG files whatever directly to/from the Kronos (with a free FTP program, check the manual of the Kronos or the manual of PCG Tools for more info).geiger167 wrote:Cool, I knew that the program was a pc tool (not on kronos) I just wasn't sure where to find the required PGC file (to save to my usb stick then transfer to PC to load it) I did as you suggested and made a test PGC file, all went well, will have a play with it in the program and try this route for my future patch saves - many thanks for your patient helpmichelkeijzers wrote:PCG Tools is a (free) PC application developed by myself, it is not on your SSD (not possible).
