that's. why ido not like Samsung and never buy anything from them.Pepperpotty wrote:That's what I'm planning to do. Unfortunately they install Windows 8 on all the recent laptops now. I was reading a review for a Samsung laptop (can't remember the model now) and they said apparently they had changed the bios to stop people from installing a new OS. That's shockingly bad. But I'm sure it won't be long before people find a work around.
If you have a little free time, I need a little help.

year Stardock is pretty amazing company which make enchantments to Windows GUI, but unfortionaly they have nothing for MacPepperpotty wrote:I read that there was something you could download made by a third party company that gives you the option of creating a desktop just like previous versions of Windows. But if Windows are doing a version themselves then even better. It doesn't surprise me. Apparently new computer purchases have dropped by 15% this year which can't just be a coincidence that it coincides with the release of Windows 8.

I really don't like manufacturers that don't allow you to upgrade parts in your desktop or laptop. I got stung with an Acer desktop a while back when I realised that I couldn't install any more RAM and couldn't even update the OS without there being glitches.chilly7 wrote:that's. why ido not like Samsung and never buy anything from them.Pepperpotty wrote:That's what I'm planning to do. So that's why I built my own PC so I can change whatever I want when ever I want. Unfortunately it's not that easy getting hold of parts to build your own laptop so I'll just have to make do with trying to install Windows 7 on to a Windows 8 one and hope that's not too glitchy.

Unfortionaly with portable devices like laptops i do not mind if they are not upgradable, but i meaned hardwere vise. But speaking about software, year, i think it is really mean from manufactor to artificaly lock OS so the user cannot upgrade it.Pepperpotty wrote:I really don't like manufacturers that don't allow you to upgrade parts in your desktop or laptop. Hi all.
The presentation went well on Friday. They felt though what I presented was too much for a single product and that it should be split up into different products at a reduced price.
Simply, one photo billions of pixels in size of one location.
I showed them the beta version as that only had 1 image and they said that’s exactly what I should be doing, minus the sound.
So, if you care for another look. Here's what the final release of the Waterford / Tall-ships Festival will probably look like.
Timo, I made some changes based on your suggestions too.

Trial version expires on the 30th of April.
This version should also load and run way faster as I've optimised everything.

The latest version works great too, even in Windows 8 x64. The black is more professional and makes the image 'pop' a lot better. Zooming and focussing on new content seemed quicker too.
Shouldn't that be...FinalSaga wrote:Beatles !? Ringo must be late in this one

Sorry for the late reaction but works fine here (Windows 7, 64 bit, Firefox).

My personal thoughts on this is that most people read what's said about win 8 in the media, try it for 30 seconds and decide they hate it.
Win 7 64 bit was very stable for me, win 8 64 bit is just as stable and boots a lot quicker.
In the first week, I got frustrated with trying to find things, but now I find it quicker to use than win 7 and I'm not using a touch screen.
Once I'd removed all the apps and just had the program's I wanted on the Metro screen and once I worked out where a few things were, I would never want to go back to windows 7.
When I'm on the desktop or running a program, I simply move the mouse to the bottom left and left click (same as I would if I clicked on start menu) and metro is there and I click on the program I need. I no longer have to go through the start menu, then select steinberg, then cubase or whatever, all the software I regularly use is there with one click (just like shortcuts on the win7/xp desktop)
And with the windows key switching between metro and the desktop, things become really fast to do.
Those that I rarely use are just as simple to find, move mouse to bottom right, click on search, type "calc" and calculator pops up (or just simply press the WindowsKey and type calc). And I can easily put shortcuts to these on say the desktop, task bar or in metro
Or you move the mouse to the bottom left, right click and you instantly have access with one click to the likes of
Programs and features (add remove programs)
event viewer
device manager
task manager
Command prompt
Control panel
File explorer
search
run
etc
It's got a few very nice features. I right click say word or my VLC media player in metro and select "pin to task bar", now if I right click on word on my task bar I have my recently opened docs listed and if I right click on VLC, I have my recently played music/video
Probably the one thing that frustrated me at first was working out how to shut the PC down. And once you learn that moving your mouse to the bottom right and selecting settings/power its right there, it soon becomes second nature. Or you could press WindowsKey + C to bring up settings menu. You could probably (not at my PC to try) just press the WindowsKey and type Shutdown.
I know that after using win 8 for a few months, going back to win 7 would seem like a big step backwards. Most people don't like change and many of those wont give change a chance. Win 8 is different to use but once you know your way around, its incredibly good.
