The way it was explained to me was it does do the simple challenge response after install to authorize, but has the software continue to 'look' for the pace software even when offline. I would hope I was wrong but the earlier response of it using more threads after install/authorization keeps me from wanting it on my machine at all.
So I have a couple of netbooks that are collecting dust and I might just put each one on a separate netbook and dedicate them to the Kronos & M3. But I haven't re-checked the minimum requirements for that software and don't know if the little atoms can handle it.
*To answer the previous questions, it hadn't gone through the authorization yet, so it was not even running... much less conflicting with the DAW.
*I went to PACE also for the updated Windows drivers too.
*The rest of my software is 64b, but again, I hadn't even started it yet.
And I have to agree, Stephen seems to be a great guy, ready to help.
I just wish they would write out the PACE.

Here are the minimum specs:Stipes Vigilo wrote:So I have a couple of netbooks that are collecting dust and I might just put each one on a separate netbook and dedicate them to the Kronos & M3. Intel Pentium 4 (or equivalent) or better
1 GHz or faster
256 Megabytes of RAM
CD-ROM Drive (if ordering on CD)
Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 - 32 or 64 bit
Color Monitor capable of 65,535 colors and 1024 x 768 resolution or larger strongly recommended
MIDI Interface or Korg USB MIDI driver with USB
Korg M3 Module, 61, 73 or 88 running v2.0 or higher (required)

The average Atom-CPU Netbook runs at 1.6GHz so a clean 32bit Install of Windows XP with minimum extra Software (and i would also recommend no Virus-Scanner in this Scenario) should be able to run the Software fairly well.
You might be running into Problems with the minimum recommended resolution of 1024x768. The "old" Atom Netbooks tend to have a maximum Resolution of 1024x600.
And yes, a 1.6GHz Atom CPU can outperform a Pentium 4. Here is a read about it:

FYI ... All of this talk about PACE got me curious. So I installed the latestest and greatest driver. from their site. It still shows n Serviess and Task Manager but it doesn't show up now in Resource Monitor. Im on Win8 x64.
Its hidden itself now. I want to get rid of it and if karma cant run without it then I'm sorry but i will have to stop using that too. Shephen ... I hope you are listening.

I'm not anti-DRM but I don't like software that hides itself or makes it difficult or impossible to monitor or uninstall. It's not like seeing PACE or removing it will allow me to bypass security so I don't see why it would be hidden from some views.Don Audio Labs wrote:Why do you want to get rid of it?
