Easiest way is to learn the "save to" routines.

Extreme reads .pcg format voice files, using prior versions of Triton files, and to a certain extent those developed for EXB-boards tho' there may be some editing required.

You can find and collect .pcg files like those found here at Korgforums, korg.com and other 3rd party sounds as well as your own. When you save the data off the Extreme it creates a .pcg file.

That data can be read directly by the Extreme with no MIDI or editor software required. That means that you can move a .pcg file directly from your computer or the net onto a USB data key and have it for immediate use.

With the Extreme you can save to or load from a USB data key just by inserting it into the USB slot in the back of the keyboard -- a cheap low capacity one is fine, even one of those give-away things you pick up at street fairs or trade shows will have enough room for a hundred or more .pcg (voice) files.

Save your current set up to USB (media function).

Load your new sounds (from USB, via MIDI from computer, or by moving .pcg files onto USB key).

Save this one too.

Load whichever one you want to be the baseline for your new organization.

Access the .pcg files on the USB key (media button) and load whichever bank or individual programs or combis you want to. You find individual sounds by digging down into the various folders just as you would with any "explorer" type program. You will see in each .pcg folders for programs, combis, global, etc. In each of these are a bank (A,B,C,D...) and in each of these locations and named programs or combis.

Pay attention to the save to location, as this can be changed to allow you to save A-000 to B-023 for example.

TIP: you should be able to audition new program sounds just by highlighting them without having to load them first. Combi audition will depend on the programs loaded and referenced.

TIP: combis reference a specific map of sound locations NOT the sounds themselves. It will look for A000, and not a grand piano sound that might have been in that location on another file. If you move programs around or load a new program set into one that is used by combis you will change any and all combis that references the locations you've written over.

Also please check PCG Tools, a a free software tool. See the link in my signature for more info.

It is ideally for managing PCG files (moving programs/combis around within or from one PCG file to another).
