Seriously man, what do you expect us to reply regarding something we cannot see (nor smell in this case) for ourselves?! Personally, I don't have the gift of divination.
I expect you to shut up and not to give known answers like:go to servis and one that said:grill smell etc.I've wanted concrete answers from someone who has the same thing happens.
Please don't tell other members to shut up. People are trying to help you and of course there will be some humour too. We're that kind of forum. I don't think there is a definitive solution to your problem. Only you know if the burning smell is bad enough to get it checked out.
Also, not quite sure what you mean by "sneaky"

Yeah, i know what you mean. i've bought a Kronos X 88 keys and smell it to. Also i think the noise of the internal ventilator is a bit hard to say at least.
A bit annoying in fact. Anyone else with the same experiances ?
Oops, forget about the fan problem. I've read the "sticky" article. My god! How is this possible with a expensive instrument like this. A real flaw in my opinion.
firstlovedan wrote:Yes, mine did. It also had two loose screws in it, so I sent it back for a new replacement. No more Burt smell.
Get it looked at! No chances my friend!

Hi Korglegend
My Kronos from new smelt like Bakalite getting very hot and I sent message here and was told not to worry as many other user had the same problem and sure enough the smell went away.
I stress that these were all new keyboards.
Yours may be a different problem but I would hang on to it and see what happens ie does the smell increase or decrease with use.
I hope this helps.

I hope this helps.[/ This smell is not very very pronounced, when the smell close the left side to the knobs, note that comes from inside(burning smell like the fan adds even more)but the keyboard isn't hot at all.I don't know if this is normal?I was extremly happy when i bought Kronos X 61 but when I started to notice this thing I was very upset and pleasure is broken Thanks my friend.Greetings
yep .. mine smells like roasting circuitry too ...
I guess in the manufacturing process , there are oils & by products that heat up & disperse with time.. the K works fine.. doesn't overheat.
Dear KORG , can you please make synths smell like cinnamon buns in future.. thanks.

Can't say I've smelled anything 'burning' inside, persay. New electronic devices sometimes emit a characteristic smell - hard to describe - and that's what I smelled. Since I have it hooked up to a UPS and line conditioner with my other musical gear - I simply left it on for a few eight hour sessions over the course of a week, and the scent seems to have greatly diminished.
Glad I came across this thread. I also notice a burning smell in my kronos x 61. It is same type of smell as fried electronics/plastic.
I got it a few months back. Before me, my brother had it for a few years. I noticed the smell within minutes of turning it on. I have had it on and played it several times, sometimes it has been on for 2 or 3 hours even if I am not playing it.
I openned it up within a week of getting it to look for burning or charred components and signs of overheating.
I could find nothing.
The smell continues.
I was hoping to find other people with this issue and to find out what is causing it. I will spend a bit more time looking through the messages in this thread but so far... I have not found any cause.
As this is an extremely old thread, I think I should make a new one ??

No, using this thread is fine. I would buy/rent a thermal camera, open your Kronos, turn it on and point the thermal camera at the various electronic components to see what is getting hot. I suspect/guess it is the power supply.
I've posted a few times about the issue I've had with my Kronos 2.
The little circuit board with the LED that shines through the Korg logo on the rear panel came loose, and was flopping around inside causing intermittent short circuits. The externally visible symptoms were "problem has been detected" error messages and unexpected reboots. Short circuits like that could easily result in a burning smell.
I didn't realize that little board was held in by a screw. I thought it was glued, so I just taped it back in place with some industrial-strength duct tape. But a few weeks later I started having the same random error messages and restarts. When I opened it up again and inspected, I found the little screw rattling around in there.
My K2 is now about 4 years old and well out of warranty. Loose parts like that could easily result in more extensive damage that could be quite expensive to repair.
