Apparently you missed the fact that you called it a demo unit. Using the words NEW and DEMO in the same sentence does not really describe what kind of unit you are referring too. I personally took it to mean new to you but none the less an old demo unit. Would you care to clarify exactly what the history of this particular Kronos is?

My and others biggest complaint against Korg isn't that some of us had problems, but the nightmare we went through trying to get the problem fixed.
Sure most got there in the end (some gave up and got another make keyboard) but being without new machines for weeks if not months, having to return it 3 or 4 times to get the problem fixed etc is anything but satisfactory.
It was probably dropped by the courier then and the keybed shifted slightly. Did it have the cardboard inserts in place (yes I know how ridiculous it is being expected to use these). But while I had to do this recently on my Kronos (that has never been moved) I do agree on a 3k board (or any board) we shouldn't ever have to and I've never had to do this on any other keybed I've owned.

At the beginning I didn't realize but after few days the cut off key problem appeared....sent to Korg UK service, back after 5 days and from then it works perfectly....maybe I have been extra lucky, but in my experience buying an ex demo has been great and can't absolutely complain with korg service.

The problem with the poll is that both choices presuppose that the respondent is unhappy with Korg. The ship is either sinking, or, the sails will rise again implying that the ship is in danger. A third choice would have been nice, maybe, "Smooth sailin' Cap'n!"
I know there have been issues with Kronos - I am lucky that I haven't experienced any of them but I am sympathetic to those who have/are experiencing them. But, that said, I sense that the number of faulty Kronoi is much smaller. Remember that we are in a microcosm on this forum. Have any of you perused Roland Clan? You will read the same thing: "Roland is sinking" Roland has been in a tailspin for years." I ignored that and bought a Jupiter 80 last month and will buy an Integra-7 in late August.
The Kurzweil community - at least at Cunka.com seems very positive about Kurzweil and as much as I love Kurzweil, the company has yet to debut their next workstation. I think their last one was the K2660 (?)
I am seeing more of the Kronos with major acts. If Thomann's figures are reliable, Kronos ranks 8th overall in sales in keyboards and Thomann is the largest music retailer in Europe.
As for demo units, if you buy one, make certain that the shop is also an authorized repair center and make sure that you have the full warranty. Have them check the instrument thoroughly. Think about it: guitarists, bassists, and drummers essentially buy floor models. That "new" BC Rich has probably been shredded a hundred times.
Keyboards are a tricky market and most music retailers will tell you that they are a hard sell because the technology moves quickly, the price points are high, and the resell value is low. Keyboards are usually bundled in the DJ and pro-audio and lighting sections of stores. Drums, basses, and guitars have dedicated areas. When I was living in America I was going to work for Guitar Disaster errr I mean Guitar Center. The people they had working in the keys area didn't know an LFO from a UFO. So I thought I could bring a modicum of knowledge there. To work there in keys however means that you are also working in other instrument areas because keyboards make up a tiny part of the overall sales of a music store. I decided I didn't want to sell guitars because I didn't want to hear Malmstein 8 hours a bloody day.
Wow, sorry for the long ramble, but, I don't see Korg as in trouble, sinking, or whatever, nor do I see that with Kurzweil, Roland, or Yamaha. Gigging musicians will always want hardware; I will never use a laptop, a controller, and a bunch of VSTs in a pub.

Current gear: Kronos, Jupiter 80, Kurzweil PC3,Roland Fantom X8, Roland XV-88 (yep, its old, but the ACTION is heaven and those XV-3080 sounds are still wonderful for me), Radias-R, Motif ES (yeah it's older but I love the guitars

I have never bought a new item and described it as a demo unit ... (shurely something lost in translation - Ed)
'Demo' to me means 'demonstration' as in - 'it has been used in the shop to demonstrate to potential customers what it can do and give them the chance to explore and play it before purchasing a new unit'.
and I have to agree with Vlad-77 that the question smacks of the 'when did you stop beating your wife' form of leading question ...
If you have bought a new keyboard and it has arrived in a broken condition then by all means use the forum to ask what others have experienced or what they have done to sort the problem out, but opening a poll to basically slag off Korg for something that may or may not be their responsibility isn't (IMO) the way to go about sorting things out ...
and I would also say that the condition a new keyboard arrives in isn't anything to do with Korg's customer services - that (customer service) comes in once the issue is identified as a product quality issue that needs rectifying ...

After careful consideration and detail deliberation with my wife and two kids, we have come to the conclusion that with clear and concise confidence, that the answer is defined by logic and careful analysis of the same substance in two different states. One, being liquid form, and the other in it's original state of substance. Ultimately however, since the material under speculation of this question reverts to a liquid state due to consumptions, that an unanimous agreement is that it is a Delicious Delight, regardless of the fact that probably later that day when it comes out the other end of your body it is the same colour, but of a harder density and not so nice to eat again.
