Have you tries a Fishman Tripleplay yet?
I have had lots of guitar midi systems over the years before settling on the AX100 mkii.
Then I got the TriplePlay, it is amazing. A real step forward.
The only problem is I now have loads of quitars with 13 pin pickups on that don't get used!

I have heard great things about the FTP system. Once Fishman develops an enteral kit and I can figure out how to use alternate tunings on the fly during live performances I may bite and install one in a Strat. For scoring alone it would be worth it to me. I hear that it tracks better than anything currently available. With Ableton 9, Push and Omnisphere it could be a fantastic adjunct. In the mean time I am trying to dig in with the Kronos. Yikes!

The tracking is very good, the main advantage is that I can play the guitar more like a guitar than with the 13 pin stuff where I had to play super cleanly.
One issue with the Kronos with midi guitar is that it smooths pitch-bend causing slurring on hammer ons/pull offs which is a pain in the arse, I find setting the pitch-bend range on the Kronos to 4 semitones or less stops it applying the smoothing.

Interesting to hear about the fishman, I never liked the Ax100 - I have one barely used sitting in a box. I have been having good results with my Gr-55 and Godin though.BobTheDog wrote:Have you tries a Fishman Tripleplay yet?

Funny I never got my GR55 to work well for me at all, I did spend a huge amount of time tuning my setup for the AX100 though so maybe I didn't give the GR55 a chance.
The good thing about the tripleplay is you stick it on the guitar and it just works, no messing about with setting it up at all.
When I first got it I just wedged the pickup between the rear pickup on a strat and the trem bracket to see if it was working before attaching it properly and it still tracked better than any other converter I had ever tried!
I was shocked as I was fully expecting to tweak countless parameters to get it set up correctly.

The GR55 seems to work much better with Roland GK3 and 2A pickups. I had a Godin LGX SA and Brian Moore with RMC and Ghosts internal bridge systems.....had to go back to a Roland Ready Strat with a GK3 to get the best performance.BobTheDog wrote:Maybe I should give the GR55 another chance then, I was just getting loads of ghost notes from it especially with peizo pickups, it was better with the GK though.
I put it about the same level as my VG99 for midi, do you think it is better then?

Hey man, sure life aint gunna be the same with a kronos, soooooo much to learn
But I have hooked up my gr-55 to the kronos and wow it literally opens up a whole new soundscape
Granted some combi's dont play well with gr55 as they have been configured to play on the keybaord but find the right ones or create your own and the combi's can be heard in a totally different light
Then start daisy chaining to other midi synths and we wont see you for a decade
Enjoy !

Wow! I can't get over how good my Kronos sounds. This is sonic therapy of the highest degree. Just what the Dr. ordered. I purchased a Yamaha HS8S subwoofer to use with a pair of Equator D5 monitors. It look like it will arrive today via UPS. It is going to be great fun working with the lower octaves. The Sub goes down to 22HZ!
Thanks Korg
