Renamed a Folder by Accident, Any Suggestions?

Post by brianv4 »

i renamed a folder and accidentally ended up with a . at the end of it. now I can't access the contents which is ok because I have a backup but I can't rename the folder without the period or delete it. Instead I get the message "file/path not found" How can I get rid of this folder from the HD? Thanks!

Press DISK then Utility, select your folder, go to drop down utility menu on the top right and select delete

You might have to use FTP to delete it. That usually works if the Kronos OS doesn't let you.

What version of the KRONOS software are you running?

In general, unusual file names are handled better by more recent versions of the software. However, it looks like it's still possible to get into this situation by placing multiple periods at the end of a folder name (if it's just a single dot, it's dropped). I'm going to file a bug report about this. In the meantime, I would second the advice above: use FTP to rename the folder. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

thanks guys. i'm running 2.1.1

as i stated, the folder can't be renamed or deleted in the usual manner.

How do I delete it using FTP? is this in the manual?

EDIT: i found it in the manual. I guess I need to get an approved USB to Ethernet adapter and FTP client software.

any suggestions or links for the software?

I second that. Filezilla can be downloaded here.
