Storing-Transferring Sounds/Banks

Post by christurbis »

I am doing a flyout date and cant take my extreme with me.
Too heavy to check at airport.
They have a backlined Triton Extreme for me at the venue.
Ive never needed to store, and take my sounds with me so that I can transfer onto the backlined Triton Extreme that awaits me on the other end.
I need advice (in laymans english) or an explanation of the process to get my Bank N and Bank E onto some form of media so I can take it on the plane and get the venue and transfer the banks onto a different Extreme.
Please HELP!!!
Thanks,
Chris

If you dont' use samples: just create a full PCG file, save it to a CF card (or better: on multiple ones) and take it with you.

Also send the PCG file to some location (on internet) you always can access.

There, you can download or take the CF card and load the PCG file in your new Extreme.

For samples probably you need to save them too to the card (check the manual for that).

Save PCG file in the menu (see manual for more precise info); I think it is in the DISK or GLOBAL button, than menu, save PCG file, All.

Try to read the CF card in a computer or laptop, make sure the files are on it.
Then send the files to your webmail for example (just as backup).
Take the CF card (with the PCG file on it and possibly sample files) to the venue.
Load the CF card at the venue (use this time the Load menu iso Save menu).

A Mac ... no clue, sorry, I only have experience with Windows computers.
Maybe with a mediacardreader via USB?

The USB port on the back of the Extreme can take a USB Data Key, and using the Media Button on the front panel you can choose that as your destination for .pcg saves.

That will transfer files back and forth seamlessly from almost all computers; no peripheral gear needed.

In the computer (Mac) loading a .pcg to the USB is as simple as drag-and-drop.

In the Extreme you'll need to allow a bit of time for the keyboard to assess the data key for content before it gives you the menu.

Recommendation is to find the smallest capacity USB key you can. 2GB seems about ideal -- anything over ~4 tends to slow things way down, BTW: 2GB is enough to hold all of KorgForums Triton .pcgs, so your one is not going to stress it.

CF Card on a MAc

Post by lorien42 »

Also, if you do not have a CF card reader for your mac, it doesn't matter. Put the card in the extreme, and connect the extreme to the mac via the USB TO HOST port.....this will allow you to access the card on your desktop.... Be certain to eject it before removing the USB connection, to avoid damage to the contents of the card (rare but possible)

Regarding loading on the other back line provided Extreme....put the CF card in. Media Mode, select the PCG you saved, and load it. You may need to check global mode to make certain that none the data is memory protected first.

I assume you mean eject the virtual disk on the Mac desktop, not the actual CF card from the TEX, as that is likely to damage it.

Correct. Sorry for the lack of clarity. Eject the virtual disk NOT the CF card.
