The best korg synth in your opinion?

Post by reactanceS »

I say kingkorg, but I am biased because it is the only korg I have right now.

You've ordered one? :D

I have to say, I've underused mine since I bought it due to deafness and low motivation, but it really does break the boundaries between workstation and synth. having 9 different instruments in one keyboard makes it quite special. I've never had a single box before that I really felt I could do an entire performance on.

Yep, and it arrives tomorrow. Got a good deal on a used one from Korg direct. Not sure where they get used boards from. I'm assuming they've used them for demos etc. It's not easy playing an instrument with a hearing imparement. It took me ages to get used to loosing half my hearing in one ear. I find earphones help.

It depends from person to peson. But since it's MY personal opinion, I would say Kronos.It contains all the (best) sounds I need in one synth.

@Pepperpotty: Congratulations with your buy!

I remember the Trident :-)

You have to look at the music thats being played on it, for me my R3 takes some beating for what I do, but all the old modular stuff was good.

If you want to use a synth as it was originally intended which was making sounds then the ones that are easy to program would be tops, if you just want a synth that makes nice realistic sounds to play some songs either covers or original then the digital ones with loads of presets would better
Korg gear past and present:- DW6000, DW8000, MicroKorg, MicroKontrol, R3, Nintendo Korg DS10, VolcaKeys.
Other gear presently being used:- Tascam US1800 audio interface, Yamaha QX5, QX21, M Audio radium 49, Fender Precision lyte bass and Boss ME50B fx pedal. Yamaha TX1P, XRI xr300, Boss BX-4 mini mixer.

I'll put my three cheers in for the old Open Architecture Synthesis System or Studio or whatever the acronym was for! OK so I'm biased towards the old beast, but hey, I've had mine since 2007 and I still get a buzz every time I turn the thing on.

I know it's old and doesn't have some of the newer technological features like its offspring, the KRONOS but I just can't part with it. I figure if it ever crashes or sings its last note, I can replace it with a KRONOS and not miss a note but until that time... :verycool: :soundsgood

We have not heard much from you lately so I am guessing that your kronos did in fact arrive ? How are you loving it so far?

Yes it did arrive and wow, I love it. I'm just taking my time learning the ins and outs and listening to the beautiful pianos.

I am in the fortunate position of having used dozens of Korg synths.

In my opinion the best one from all I used was Oasys.
