Pedal recommendation?

Post by Satori »

Hello!

I never had to use a pedal for my trinity the past decade+, but it looks like I need to now, mainly for switching sounds. I am unfortunately oblivious to the pedal market. I am aware of the existence of EXP-2 and XVP-10.

1) Can these two pedals be used for switching sounds, expression and volume change?

2) Are there any other pedals in the market compatible with the Trinity? If so, do they work with newer KORG keyboards or other brands?

3) Which one do you recommend? The main function I need one is to switch sounds, but I wouldn't mind expression and volume changing abilities.

Thank you in advance for any answer and thank you for being part of this awesome forum. It's an encyclopedia for KORG keyboards!

Hello,

The EXP-2 and XVP-10 are expression/volume pedals they are not switching pedals.

Any switch ($2 is enough) will work, you need to adjust the "polarity" in global mode.

A good and reliable switch pedal ist the Boss FS-5U. Half the price of the Boss is the Korg PS-3.
Best regards, Robert

You also might consider the Behringer FCB-1010.

Thanks michelkeijzers! That looks nice but also very expensive! 8)

I have one more somewhat relevant question in case anyone reads this, so I won't have to open another thread.

Does the sound switching time improve if I update Trinity's firmware (I never have). You know, when you are playing live, half a second sometimes is too much.

Depends how early the version. What version are you using? Although I know they did improve the speed over time, I'm unsure which version(s) they did it with.

However the latest OS for all Trinitys without a MOSS-TRI expansion board is v2.4.1. For those with a MOSS-TRI board it's v3.1.1 (or v3.1.2).

Actually the Behringer is around $100 (secondhand or $150 or so new) I think, plus some extra for a chip giving it more capabilities.

I don't know about the last question.
