Hello,

About a authorization, I don't think many users knew diffrence between KRS and EXs until Korg gave us bonus organ program KRS 06 in Japan..Korg should have let us know
:(

Korg added new KApro libraries last week, even Kronos X line has already been out of stock in Japan.
I guess we will see new workstation (Kronos Z?) this year..I hope..

If so, next workstation could be running 64bit OS and able to add memory more than 4GB, more user banks..I really hope that.
Like some of heavy users here, I have no free memory and banks already. I'm afraid to use Kronos editor on Mac due to past bugs. So I'm reluctant to buy new libraries.

About company policy, it might depends on business, but I think that music company giving users some authorization codes (like IK, Toontrack..) or movable code (like Waves, XLN..) is more profitable than limiting only one, if Korg would continue EXs library business.

fully agree, but regarding the name, I don't think it will be a Kronos Z but rather a Kronos Xpro or even a Kronos 2 Xpro

Personally, I would have bought a second Kronos and other EX-libraries (I have the Legendary Strings EXs) long ago if it were not for that license policy by Korg. With my Yamaha equipment (Motif XF8 home and XF7 for live gigs) for years I practiced, that I have these two identically configured and only one is moving for gigs and rehearsals. Even under backup aspects that makes perfect sense. But, double pay for sounds that ultimately represent only licenses? And no official solution for what happens to the EXs if my Kronos is irreparably broken. With that policy I do have a problem ...

Pity that Dan - who speaks for Korg here - manifests just evasive on this issue .
Cheers, Michael

Dan is here on his own time and I highly respect his integrity. It's a shame Korg won't modify the policy or be more clear about repair cases, but it's not Dan on his own who decides this so he can't very well start making statements. What he can do is listen and relay the info, which he is.

FWIW, I haven't heard a single case of a user that had a broken Kronos with a protected library on it, where Korg refused to transfer it to a new board. All the (valid) complaints so far have been about people wanting to sell/move their license or use it on two boards.

I know of no cases in which this has been a problem. Personally, I cannot imagine a Korg Distributor not making this work for you.

Well arguments aside....I decided to buy the cheapest soundset to give it a go, and I played it all night, loving the sounds, if this is the way we have to do things, then so be it..... I got some great sounds and I'll probably buy some more because my programming days are limited back to the Casio CZ1000 where ADSR was pretty much all i could manage.

Well done to anyone who can tame this monster!

Sorry, but that´s not correct!
If the Kronos breaks, the Korg Distributor is responsible for the hardware. But the EXs is licensed by Korg itself, so it´s Korg´s decision to allow the license to be transferred to another unit.
And for this case there´s no universal policy apparent.
Me I don´t like to be dependent on individual decisions I cannot foresee...

It is absolutely correct, actually. Korg Distributors work together with Korg.

I seem to recall the email reply I got from Korg was the same as Dan's reply. Basically hardware issues that could not be resolved and caused the loss of a purchase sound would be made right. I have no worries Korg wouldn't take care of a customer in that situation.

Thanks Dan for your help in these forums, it is always appreciated!
