These days, there is little difference between debit and credit cards as debit cards tend to be Visa or Mastercard (in the UK I mean), whilst before, debit cards tended to be usable only in the issuing country (a long time ago), with things like Carte Bleue in France or Maestro in the UK. With the advent of chip and pin, debit cards started becoming usable abroad as well to pay for goods and use in cash machines, with things like Switch. Recently, it's all become Visa or Mastercard.
So now, the main difference between credit and debit is that a debit card takes what you spend out of your bank account, whilst credit card give you a period to pay back what you have spent, or start charging interests. This means you don't have to pay all that you have spent back, but you incur interests on top of what's left to repay.
Finally, some debit cards took a while to be recognised internationally. When my UK bank replaced my Switch card with a Visa, I remember not being able to pay for international transactions for a while, even though it was a Visa. Once the new numbers where on all databases, then the card worked for payment everywhere. Maybe that's what happened to you when you tried to use it on the Korg online shop.
Why there is no paypal in Korg Shop?

Thanks for the info Francois.
It has been a while since I've tried to pay with a Debit Card.....
Does this mean that Korg Libraries will now accept them...?
Perhaps I could try a dummy run for myself to be sure,or ask them,of course......unless you know already.
One way around it for me is to have someone else use their own Credit Card,(as I was advised by Korg UK some time ago, which did work)and I repay the holder etc.
The only snag with that is,sometimes delivery of bought items can only be to the holder's address or product registration can only be to them as well.
In its self, doesn't present a major problem, just a little inconvenient.
Will no doubt I'll find out with my next transaction.
Thanks,again.
Best wishes.

Given what others have said after your response, maybe that was a long time ago for you.pedro5 wrote:What's the opinion regarding Debit Cards ?
Many people who have a bank account also have them, as oppossed to Credit Cards.
Korg won't accept them, nor our good friend StephenKay....for Karma products etc.(Sorry Stephen,it's not meant to be a criticism, nor a complaint).
There must be a reason for this...??
I accept debit cards, and always have, as long as they are associated with Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, Solo, Switch... If they are not, and they are some special "Joe's Bank Debit Card" which is only good in one city in South America or something, then no... we don't take those.

Almost all debit cards from banks are now associated with Visa or Mastercard, and work just the same as an actual Visa or Mastercard. If you have something other than one of those, you should be trying to figure out how to get into the modern world.
