I have just got myself a TR rack. I an looking for the complete TR Sysex manual. Everything I find on the net stops after Table 1 - there should be 7 tables (listing the parameters for combi and global etc). I have contacted Korg and they only have up to table 1 too. I notice that some of you have scanned in and emailed - I would love a copy

TR-Rack Sysex Manual
Thank you to Michel for his help. Unfortunately I still don’t have the full sysex implementation.
Xavier - Your link stops after table 1
The TR Rack and the Trinity share the same basic set up. In other posts there is mention of the blank pages of the Trinity Parameter guide (pages 165 to 183) – I think these are what I need, or the TR Rack midi implementation tables 2 to 7. I am hoping someone has an original hard copy, that they got when they bought their keyboard, and they would be kind enough to scan in these pages.
I use Midiquest v10 – out of the box, it never really worked (I have it on an old XP PC with midi cable). I have got in to the back end and been ‘correcting’ editors for a variety of other synth modules, TG500, Roland JV1010 + others. It takes time, but eventually it works as it should and is very powerful! I now have the TR rack in my sights. If anybody out there uses MQ10 and a TR-Rack, I will let them have my finished results!

This has the same info as the trinity rack midi implementation, but it also has the combination and song parameter numbers.
It does not have the effects parameters

ps: looking for triton and moss error codes please......

Hello,
You can take a look to what I had (on my Alchemist software):

Re: TR-Rack Sysex Manual
I have a TR-Rack and am having much trouble getting it to work with MQ11Pro. I had given up on it until I saw this post. I am really hoping you can help me because the buttons on the from of my rack are soooo tedious to use.. I am not much of a MIDI programmer though I am trying to learn more. I also have a BCR2000 that I would LOVE to use take control of the tr-rack as well but no such luck as of yet.. Currently I am running midi in/out from the TR-Rack to the BCR2000 controller and using the usb midi connection from there to the pc. That seems like the most practical way to do it but I am learning that nothing is really practical when it comes to MIDI. LOL.. Any thoughts?ProfPlat wrote:I now have the TR rack in my sights. TR-Rack and MQ
The guts of the TR-Rack are the same as the Trinity. The front panel editing does not directly reflect the individual parameters that you can change on the Trinity, eg you cannot change the type of wave for a patch from the front panel, it can only be changed using software. Anything you change in the software will not be shown on the TR-Rack (see page 14 of the TR Owners manual). So it is a case of either front panel or software (and don't bother to look at the unit to see your changes).
I guess the BCR2000 can use Control Change messages (only a select few can be changed) and/or system exclusive (comprehensive). For Control Change see table 2.1 in samriccijr's attachment above. For System exclusive: In MQ you can switch on the midi messages window, when you change a parameter you can then see the message that is being transmitted to the TR-Rack - this will give you a start for what the BCR2000 needs to transmit (more details are in the same attachment). The TR-Rack has to be in edit mode, and you will need to save after.
Not sure if this helps - I do all my editing offline and save the patch (sometimes I make slight changes and save as another patch, and then change between them), then send CC messages for pan/vol etc

Re: TR-Rack and MQ
After reading the MIDI Implementation Info for the TR-Rack over and over and over (and over) I finally am getting a general understanding of how things are received/transmitted and more specifically the format language or style (hex/dec/or combination of the two). Now I'm trying to figure out how to determine the MSB and LSB for the specific parameters I want to change on the fly. Interesting note for those who have not already figured this out.. the program/combi parameters on the TR-Rack CAN be controlled externally via MIDI but the unit MUST BE IN PROG or COMBI Mode... That being said I cannot accomplish what I was trying to achieve since a considerable amount of my work is done in MULTI mode. But it will make my sound designing workflow much smoother... Thanks for your input ProfPlatProfPlat wrote:I guess the BCR2000 can use Control Change messages (only a select few can be changed) and/or system exclusive (comprehensive).

TR-Rack Multi
Ah, this maybe your problem. The multi mode on the TR-Rack is not like anything else. Parameters cannot be changed using sysex (only a complete dump is allowed - This is from MQ as well as the sysex chart). There is only 1 multi, so you cannot save different setups, ie there is no bank of multis. See the TR-Rack midi sysex contents list for confirmation.
You can actually achieve most of the same in combination mode (only 8 patches, not 16 patches/combinations).

Re: TR-Rack Multi
ProfPlat I seem to be having trouble determining the MSB and LSB for changing any of the specific parameters... you mentioned MQ. I have MQ but i have yet to get a complete set to dump.. if i could get MQ to work I would not need to go through all this figuring and calculating just to edit a parameter. The forum moderator at soundquest advised me to use a dedicated midi interface and see if that solves the problem. I do not have the resources to get another MIDI interface at the moment tho so that will have to wait. My problem with MQ is i cannot get the Program banks to dump. It always fails at the very end. Sometimes the multi and combination banks do the same thing. Have you had any issues with MQ?ProfPlat wrote:Ah, this maybe your problem. The multi mode on the TR-Rack is not like anything else. MQ
I looked at the manual for the BCR2000, and it looks like it only uses CC messages, so you only need to use the Control messages : Bn xx vv. Where n is the channel (0-F), xx is the CC no (from the midi messages chart) and vv is the value 00 – 7F.
Eg B0 4A 7F sets the brightness for channel 1 to max.
Not sure why you need the MSB/LSB. MQ uses sysex parameters to change (rather than the CC messages) and automatically takes care of the MSB/LSB
The best way to check the dumps is to switch on the midi in/out window in MQ, the order of messages is sometimes not correct, but the dump will be big and end with a F7 if complete.
I use an old XP PC with MQ and a PCI soundcard (£7 on amazon) and connect the gameport to a midi cable (£8 on ebay). I have no issues getting the banks out and in.
