I had the same issues on this update as I have in the past and reformatting the usb on the Kronos is the solution. Thanks for the reminder Greg!!

success !!!

JFYI:
if anybody else has such problems as i:
after formatting my USB stick in the Kronos again,
i had again two unsuccessful trys,
.....allways waiting long enough that the USB stick is detected.

the solution:
i powercycled my Kronos, the USB Stick was attached,
now the update went as smooth as it gets

Thanks Korg !

Still Can't Download and Install 3.0.2 Update

Post by lluvaas »

I've done everything suggested on this Forum and I'm still getting an error message. I don't understand what could be wrong and I haven't had any issues installing previous system upgrades, so I'm frustrated. Anyone have a possible solution? I sure hope so because I don't know what else to do.

You also tried to download it again from Korg website?
Best regards, Robert

I had the same problem. Seems like the prudent thing to do is:

First format the USB thumb via the Kronos.

Take the USB drive out of the Kronos

Install the 9 files from the update (all but the manuals)

Copy onto the USB Drive.

Stick the drive back into the Kronos

Power the Kronos off - wait ten to 15 seconds

Power on the Kronos with the USB inserted

Run the update (Global mode...)

Turning on the Kronos with the USB stick inserted made all the difference in the world. Nice update. Thanks Korg!!!

Please Help! None of these Suggestions Helped Me to Install

Post by lluvaas »

Hi,

I spent a long time trying to install version 3.0.2 to no avail. And, I did all of the things you all suggested. I'm wondering if the version of software I have on the Korg Kronos is the right one for the upgrade? I have Version 2.1.0.
Can I install Version 3.0.2 from that older version? Other than that I'm totally stumped. Can't figure out what to do except to give up which is so sad. :x

dont give up.

your current OS is perfectly ok to start

make sure your USB drive is new, 100% clean. Korg format that thing as stated above.

download 3.0.2 again. drag drop to your desktop

open that root folder and you should several files. 1 file folder are the manuals and install directions from korg.

follow the install steps precisely. there are several steps. take the time to follow them as stated.

i think you will be successful !

I see it's FAT 32 for this install. I downloaded the version and now it is installing, so perhaps I got a corrupted download…..thanks for helping!!!

thats a drag. lets continue to trouble shoot.

did you disconnect All USB devices from your Kronos ?

are you certain your USB drive is 100% clean ? for example, if there is 1 little misc file that will abort the install

how old or what is the capacity of your USB drive ? if you haven't thought of this already, use another clean/new USB drive.

are u on mac or PC ?

how many files + folders are in your root folder ?

did you shut off your Kronos a few times and wait 10 seconds , etc, etc as per the 3.0.2 install steps ?

i am on the road, and will check back later

keep trying

Thanks so much!!!!

As mentioned in my last reply I downloaded this version again and now it's working. I think the initial download was perhaps corrupted.

Fat 32. The Kronos seems to play nicer with a perfectly clean USB drive, formatted to Fat 32 from the Kronos. I had trouble before because I used a USB drive that had been used with my Mac.

This is a great upgrade and I'm real happy that Korg has kept to it's word about providing updates to the keyboard. It would not be worth the money for me to try and sell the Kronos for Kronos II or whatever.

I use the set list function and they have really smoothed out the functionality of it now. Color coding is great and the ability to populate the set list with programs or combis is a real plus. No more going in and out between patches and set list mode.
