New Kronos Processor and OS

Post by sirve »

Hi!

I have the original Kronos and I am about updating its OS to V3.

But…!

Does the new Kronos which is shipped of course with the v3 installed, has a better processor, with better onboard graphics etc? I am afraid that the previous model may be struggling to operate flawlessly.

I mean that the new os is supportedby the older models but optimised to run perfect on the new model…

Do we have any info about the processor model? If the new Kronos and the original Kronos have the same processor specs, ok, but if the new Kronos has a better processor, i am afraid that there will be issues…

P.S.: It's like the iOS updates. E.g the iOS 8 is supported on iPhone 4S but it struggles to perform all the graphics introduced with the os update. iOS 8 is optimised for iPhone 6 and just supported by the 4S.

From a graphics point of view, there's hardly anything going on in the Kronos. You don't play 3D games on it.
You can't compare the Kronos OS with iOS. They're totally different.

OS v3 supports the vanilla Kronos and has no drawbacks hardware wise.
In the release notes there aren't any performance dropping features either.

My conclusion: there's nothing to worry about. :)

.
you are comparing apples and oranges. No reason or actual data to support those worry theories for the Kronos

You don't have to be worried,
new kronos mount a new atom motherboard,
just because old models are discontinued.
New models are D2550 or N2800,
(I bet it's the D2550)
and, if you analyze specs and comparisons, you will discover
that those motherboars/processors are just
slightly faster that old ones:
D2550 and N2800 processors are dual core 1.86 Ghz
while D525 is dual core 1.8, just
0.06 Ghz of difference, really irrelevant

You're assuming the new Kronos was in production (or at least prototypes available to all) during the development and testing of the new OS. I don't know that I'd make that assumption.
