Just heard from my supplier mouth that the UK shipping date has slipped until June.

If there was a pot of money shared out between winners of this poll then whoever clicked June has good odds...
I went for July.

Never trust a pre-order date, especially from a store selling the gear. They just want you locked in, nothing more. :(

I'd love to hear the inside story behind these never ending delays for products that were announced and premarketed in september last year.

Design problems?
Manufacturing process going wrong?
Short supplies for some components?
Economical or political context?
Evil-twisted marketing plan?

Not blaming anyone, just curious. :D

It's not an "never ending" delay. This is the first actual official date change from Korg!

Last year Korg posted on their site the ES2 for 2015. Big huge graphic! Then also last year a korg rep / official on a huge demo video of the E2 stated March would be the release of the ES2.

Now Sweetwater and another re-seller in Europe was told May, by Korg.

As far as what caused the delay that could be many things! I could be a cynic and say (and I have) that thanks all of those nice comments by unrealistic users out there...that Korg may actually dump the whole ES2 entirely! They had a huge loss with the microSampler release...had to lower the price, later discontinue it. I mean really, the microSampler was so under appreciated. Korg may not want to take that same kind of risk. What I have said is the worst of the worst scenario, but if that came true (realistically it shouldn't)..."Thank You Haters!!!"

This constant delaying tells me Korg are still finalysing the product. This might be a good thing. I'm hoping they're adressing known issues from the E2, but also that they are increasing sample memory. Still, if it turns out it won't be available until summer, I think I'll go for the Octatrack instead (maybe still getting the E2s, though).

what would you prefer:

something in your hands now that you end up kicking around the living room floor and spit on after three weeks...

or something you are happy with two - three- four years from now after you received it in June..

After the E2 I am damn happy to wait and I will wait a further three months after other people have their mittens all over it.

I still have too much to learn with the E2 - plenty to keep me busy. I may just stay with it I think after investing so much time in it. After this time I generally stick with gear after having it this long - even if not 100% satisfied with it. I get used to - and get over - the warts.

it was never meant to make me coffee anyway.

good points. I feel the same way about the e2. Lots to explore and learn. Certain things about the sampler are starting to make me itch but I'm going to wait a while until I even consider getting it. I'd rather learn the e2 inside out as much as I can, and then grab the es2. So I don't really care when it comes out tbh...

I was referring to the new electribe line as a whole, since the e2 is also delayed from month to month everywhere. Or comes in *very* short batches to say the least.

And these units are said to be identical, hardware wise.

Sure the sampler software may not be ready, hence the delay, but the e2 - while not perfect - is still quite usable as is, especially considering the price.

Perhaps Korg rushed out the product to grab people attention and cash knowing the Roland JD-Xi was around the corner for just $100 more.

Seriously guys, I think there is something wrong with their marketing departement. What sense does it make to launch a product, and for most of the buyers, it is still not available. On top of that, Korg does not even utter a single word on what is going on there. Their webpages do not mention anything about the release problems, as if the tribes would be available.

In all fairness, the Electribe was stated for a March release. This delay can only mean a better product like 1 inch Punch said. Remember all the bugs with the Electribe on its release in Septemeber? This gonna be a solid release, you can count on it

Well, the E2 has also been delayed several times. Still, its OS had some bugs. Delays can happen, but it makes Korg appears as amateurs when releases dates are changed over and over again. If Korg said: "first half of 2015", everything would be alright. Instead, the keep telling obviously wrong dates to shops and stores.

Also, I do not believe the sampler to be able to act as a tool for live looping, like the KP3 is. Why would they implement such a function, without advertising it. A lot of people are going to have to high expectations.

I don't remember the first E2 being delayed at all. Most of the promo videos I saw had the Korg reps saying it would be out during Fall and it started shipping out toward the end of that season. It sold out in a lot of places, but that's different from being delayed.

And I've said this already a page back: items which you can preorder are subject to date changes because the retailers put up fake "expected by" dates without actually knowing when they will receive it. Don't blame the manufacture for this, blame the retailers.

When a store allows people to make preorders, it means the average joe on the street has to wait longer before he can randomly buy it on a whim. To this day, I still haven't been able to find the first E2 locally to try out in person. But that's not Korg's fault, its the stores because they are unable to stock them on the shelves due to the huge amount of preorders they took before the product even officially went on sale.
