Overwrite Korg Factory Sounds when adding new sounds

Post by macmedic »

I am on my 3rd Korg Kronos (Now the new 2-88) and with this new beast I screwed up when I added new sounds. Yesterday I did a full factory reset which was not bad.
How can I insure new sounds do not go to spaces where factory sounds live. The reason I say this is most of the add on sounds require the Korg factory sounds to work. A dead give away that I did a my bad is that Karma goes nuts telling me I screwed up something. I want to add the new Funk and Brass, Organ, Atoms, Enne, Neo Endorphin and Pro Splits and Layers.
Going from a twenty gig SSD to a 60 gig SSD with double the ram should allow me to do so without problems.
I am also working on converting the Yamaha Brass sound set which is different than the Korg set and I really have to get a hot alto sax because as much as I love my Kronos I can not find a hot in your face alto sax period. Thank you for any help in this matter.

' add on sounds ' .... are you referring to new combis that you would like to purchase then add/load ? and if so, the combis are created by ....

With PCG Tools's feature List Generator you can make a lot of different lists, and one of them is showing which programs are used by which combi or set list slot (or combi in set list slots), so you can see in a glance what programs are 'unused'. You can also move programs/combis/set list slots with keeping all references intact.

Also, if you copy/paste, programs with the same name (optional) or same content will be automatically referenced (thus not pasted), or check if identical patches exist.

Yes, and if you don't want to make lists, you can directly see and filter all links and references with the free software TidyKronos... Moving programs is even possible without loosing its SNG references.

It looks like a race ... I think it's most honest to say that every of the three applications has their own pros and cons and most important, can be used next to each other to benefit for all their capabilities.

Just using the Kronos you can specify where programs and combi's are loaded. Open the PCG, then the Combi and select what you want. Press load and it will give an option where to load it. You can select multiple combi's and it will load them consecutively. It won't fix program references in combi's if they have moved.
