Another midi controller to add to the list that work with the Kronos:
Roland A-49 - in core midi mode (see instructions on how to do the one time setup to switch from the so called "advanced" midi driver to the normal one).

I use an Alesis Vortex Wireless keytar with my Kronos 2. The Kronos recognizes the USB receiver immediately and it works flawlessly.
Korg Kronos 2-73, Korg M3-61, Hammond Xk-1c, Ensoniq SQ-1+, Yamaha CS-1x. Korg Triton Rack, Korg TR Rack, Roland JV-1080, Roland Fantom XR, Alesis QSR, Korg Legacy Edition, Cakewalk by Bandlab.

You can calculate the output when using the Frequency Fine parameter by dividing the Fine parameter value by 99 and then calculating that percentage between the current and next value:

Converting from values to hertz:
(fine/99) * (Higher Hz - Lower Hz) + Lower Hz

Example: "If the LFO frequency is 47 and the fine frequency is 73: First find entry 47 in the table. That value is 2.496719 Hz. The very next entry in the table is 2.608299 Hz. Use the fine control to find the point 73% of the way between these two values.
fine tune = (73/99) * (2.608299 - 2.496719) which is 0.082276162. Then the final result is
2.496719 + 0.082276162 = 2.578995162 Hz."

Inverse equation for finding what values are closest to a target frequency:
(Target - Lower Hz) / (Higher Hz - Lower Hz) = (solution) * 99

What you are listing is not a controller, it's the midi connector- the topic is referring to midi keyboards that would connect to the Korg Kronos. You would use the Kronos as a midi controller for apps on the iPad through the camera connection kit which has a USB port in it.

you can also use ipad to send control messages to kronos as well sequences and other stuff it'a duplex connection.
you can also bring in a usb hub and connect several hardware devices and make an aggregated controller from them to use with kronos.

So,Yes iPad can act as a controller. i,e Touch screen controller.

you can use

as well as many other midi control apps to create your custom controllers if you need.

Would be smashing if either Korg or someone else could bring out a 'how to' book on using the Kronos aimed at beginners like myself.

Anyone any plans?

Figured I'd share some more information about specs. I've heard that it's possible to increase voice count if you were to solder in a better processor... But the specs below seem just fine to me.

It's important to note that the voice count for an engine is shared between instances. For example two instances of MS-20ex will share those same forty voices. It would be possible to have 39 voices sound on one instance and have the other play in mono mode. If one instance plays 25 notes and the other does as well, then the Kronos will start stealing voices from the previously sounded EXi. You could prioritize one instance over the other in Combi mode however.
I don't think HD-1 or AL-1 have a cap on the instantiations since they don't use EXi fixed resources. Besides every engine technically has a cap at 32 instances (two per program).

it's possible to increase voice count if you were to solder in a better processor...
Be sure to post a video if you try that. I imagine you’d need a pretty fancy soldering iron.

I definitely don't plan to mod my Kronos. I'm not an electrical engineer or a software developer. Besides I'm totally satisfied with the stock board's level of performance.

Kronos KSC memory usage / follow-up - free Excel sheet

Hello there,

Here's a little Excel sheet I want to share in case anyone else might find it useful too. I created it and use it in MS Excel and as it includes checkboxes I am not sure it will work in online Excel-wannabe apps like Google sheets. But it should work if you have MS Excel.

With it you can :

1) see if your Kronos has enough RAM by clicking checkboxes of any KSC you want to add or created yourself - similar to the KSC Auto-load tab, but without using your Kronos.

2) do a follow-up of your latest changes (between an original and updated sample set) and RAM usage gain, if you like to optimize your programs to use the Kronos memory as efficiently as possible.

The last two columns are protected to avoid calculation mistakes, but you can unprotect them if you want (there is no password), for example to add more lines or improve on it, etc.

To use it, simply download it at : https://www.filedropper.com/kronosmemory. Look at the examples provided, then simply erase what's in the cells and write your own stuff. Clicking on the checkboxes adds the KSCs to the RAM usage and subtracts memory from the Kronos RAM limit (1961 Mb in the example). Note that you can change the Kronos RAM limit too (white cell at the bottom). It can vary a bit depending on the unit and other factors. If there is not enough RAM, the cell background becomes yellow to warn you. It is free, so enjoy. 8)
