Improving the electric guitars

In order to complete (to our standard) some sequences of guitar-heavy songs that we are adding to our song list, I needed to come up with some really convincing electric guitars sounds. I have been working on this for a few months now and would like to share it (the process) with the members of the forum in appreciation for all the help and assistance passed along to me over the past few years.

But before I do that, I want to put some of my sequence tracks on the forum for members to hear to be sure that I am actually on to something. That said, what is the easiest way to put a recording on this forum. I have Sound Forge and can record WAV files. I am barely computer literate so keep it simple and assume nothing.

I would suggest uploading them to soundcloud. You can then link them to here on the forum. Soundcloud will accept both wavs and mp3s (along with other formats). A basic account is free, too.

Im working on it, but got interrupted with the arrival of my Turbosound IP2000 sound systems. Have to get them tweaked and ready to go. Have the songs recorded just have to figure how to post them.

How do you like them (the iP2000s)? Can you do without monitors? How's the bass?

The iP2000 system is extremely versatile and user friendly. I have 2 systems with 1 hard case for the 4 column arrays and 2 soft cases for the subs; total weight 151 lbs. Is sets up in about 15 minutes and tears down in about 5. We use either 2 Alto TX10 monitor speakers or in-ear monitors, but you can clearly here the mains on the stage. The bass (subs) are adequate and what you would expect from a 12" speaker in a cabinet this size. Never tried heart thumping EDM music, so I can't comment on that, but they are very tight and well defined. The system as a whole is very articulate and smooth and seems to have ample volume for small to medium venues. For larger venues we plan to set up 2 full-range side fills (Mackie SRM 450s) about 30-40 feet in front of the mains and delay the signal. I have not had to do this yet and we have played a 35' X 85' acoustically challenged room with about 250 people. At that performance there we still had plenty of unused SPL; I would estimate about 35% more sustainable volume. Also worth noting is that I perform in a 100% sequenced duo or trio, so 100% of the drums and bass are handled by the iP2000s. We play a wide variety of primarily dance music, so there is a lot of bass and drums going on. I am very happy with its performance and logistics. For the price, I think it is a steal.

Do you mind sharing which hard case and soft cases you got? (Any special packing in the column case?) And, if it's not too much trouble, I'd love to know the base/bass weight without the columns.

I got the hard case from Road Cases USA, Inc. It is a "Roadie Junior" series custom case that holds all four array halfs. If you decide on one, PM me and I will send to you the invoice number for them to use for dimensions from that build. It cost $219.00 delivered. They also provided some foam inserts to put between the columns. It weighs about 51 lbs with the arrays inside. I have been buying custom cases from them for years, and they are very good.

I got the soft cases for the subs from Studio Slips for $278.00 delivered. They are custom made "clamshell" series soft padded cases that zip completely closed. I had a pocket put on top over the controls and put a piece of plexiglass in it to protect them. The soft cases weigh about 1.5 - 2 lbs each. I believe the subs weigh 48 lbs each.
