How long can ONE sample be in the Electribe Sampler 2?

I know the webpage states that you can record up to a 270 second sample in mono but does that refer to each INDIVIDUAL mono sample or does it refer to the 999 sample slots in total?

I saw a guy on youtube stating he could only record up to 99 seconds in mono. Just a tad bit confused before buying.

The 270 seconds is the total time the sampler can hold. I believe you have to delete the samples that are in the unit in order to get the full sampling time. There is a blank file on here that someone uploaded, and they cleared all the factory samples. The sampler is rad if your sampling short clips of audio, or don't plan on recalling long samples much.

just to add, if you did record a single 270 second mono sample, that's all you would get into the machine you'd fill the memory and have no room for more samples. this thing isn't a loop player, if you need samples that long look elsewhere....

The sampling time is only limited to 270 seconds if you are sampling directly from the hardware itself. You can actually increase the time by loading in samples with a lower rate from an external memory card.

For example, 270 seconds is for the highest quality 16-bit 44,100 mono sample, but you can load in a 540 second sample from the memory card by making it 16-bit 22,050 or 8-bit 44,100.

Um. Has anyone tried this?

I was trying this out this weekend and I wasn't been able to record more than about a 20 second sample (mono). Anything longer, and the machine doesn't allow you to "save" that sample, - the "write" button doesn't seem to do anything.

Has anyone else tried this and had a different experience.?

The ES2 comes with preset samples that actually take up a good chunk of the RAM space, so the best thing to do is wipe them out completely and start from scratch. There's another thread somewhere on this website which you can load to wipe out all of them in one process, but I can't seem to find it. You'll get the full 270 mono seconds of onboard sampling RAM time once the file is loaded.

Yep. Even after loading that (e2sSample.all). I see 270 seconds free, but still can't record/sample longer than 20 seconds on the unit itself.

I assume we can load samples longer than that using the sample manager here: http://www.appification.de/ElectribeSampleManager/
but I haven't had the time to try it yet.

Worked out surprisingly well. Created a 3 and half minute mono track of textures, fx etc - and still had plenty of room to bring in enuff samples to play over the top.

I will be experimenting with it lots more.

You Can pitch up samples by 1, 2 or 3 Octaves on the computer, and pitch Them Down again to normal speed on the sampler. That Way you Can have x2, x3, x4 times the samples on the sampler.

Gonna try that 22050 sample rate and maybe pitch up 1 octave. I'd love to check out somebody's .all file that is most utilized with decent sound quality. The sample file I created and currently using has 245 1-shot drums(sliced) and 400 single cycles with 10mb to spare.

Well. I must have been doing something wrong earlier.

I was just able to directly record a 4+ minute sample into the electribe, with no issues.
Good to know we can record a 273 sec sample if needed.
