Yes,it's the way to go really, depending on how much money we're talking about.

What was the total cost for the rubber contacts ?

I like the idea of marking the old ones.......just imagine getting them mixed up.......they're all Pink !! :)

Personally, I didn't test the rubber contact strip because I had mine replaced at a Korg support center...

However, I found that reference somewhere here and I put that on the thread about the RH3 fix.

It would be great if someone can provide us with authoritative confirmation about the validity of that rubber contact strip

I had quite an extensive issue with this over several keys, with both a normal sustain pedal, and the DS-1H...so I will know pretty much immediately :

For interest sake here is a pic of the parts...one of the left is new, one on the right is old

It would be of great help if someone at Korg would say something in this regard.

Same to me.. When i'm about to have my kronos delivered, people at jakarta tells me that people from korg japan reported that my kronos have the new keybed.. And its pink!
Love my kronos 88 :D
Love my yamaha psr s910 as well

I also ordered those "grey" strips which arrived pink, back in December. I've previously had both blue and pink keybed strips replaced in my unit via warranty repair. Since I've moved to a new country I'm now out of warranty so it's DIY, but it was dead easy to install the new pink strips in my keybed.

However there was no noticeable difference - I still regularly get double / cut-off notes, particularly when I play at a medium intensity - not too soft, not too hard. It basically renders the Kronos unplayable. It's hard to say this but my Kronos88 has a worse keyboard than my $49 Roland portable USB keyboard.

My Kronos is gonna be on E-bay soon, what a piece of junk. This will be my last Korg ever. :(

Are you saying you still got the note cut off problem with the blue contacts hence have now had to order some more, which are pink and still bad?

If so, this is the first time I think I've heard that the blue contacts didn't fix the cut off problem.

Can anyone (miden) say what is the factory composition of strip rubber parts in a K88. There are a 12 contacts strip and a 4 contacts strip.
So for a 88 notes : 7 x 12 + 1 x 4 = 88 ? Or 6 x 12 + 4 x 4 = 88?

My K88 was sent back twice to the KORG service repair.

FYI, repair team said that my keybed does not really suffer of the double-strike problem because they couldn't reproduce it.
But it was really easy to me to produce a double-strike. I've made a video to prove it.

On first repair, only some contacts were replaced, but "old" pink contacts were replaced by "old" contacts. So, the problem was still here, and the keyboard feeling was badly changed :-(
I ask for a full keybed replacement.

On second time, the full keybed was replaced. Now it has a marked "KDP", according to http://www.kronoshaven.com/kronos-news/ ... -pictures/, that's mean a "new" (good?) keyboard.
Contacts are still pink.

Honestly, now the keyboard is really, really great. If I play something to try to reproduce the double-strike (cutoff), I can't.
BUT very very rarely, when I performed, I heard sometimes a cutoff on the left side.
If I play again the same measures to determinate what's wrong, I can't reproduce it again

Now I'd like to buy a whole set of "good" rubber contacts to test after the warranty period.
And 60$ is not an heavy charge to remove this annoying cutoff.

I find very annoying that after spent so much money for a supposed professional workstation there is such a big issue and korg often is not able to fix it at the first stage.

I just discovered my kronos 73 bought 3 weeks ago has the same problem and reading all the problems you guys are having with the technical support (sending the kronos several times to the repair service) I'm starting to think if it is the case to claim my money back and invest them elsewhere, maybe an oasys.

I have had some hard drive issues, so have nt had a chance to fully test, but I should be able to report back soon :)

I cannot say re the 88 as mine is a 73 which needed 7 strips, with two being cut to size.

Cost was $101 shipped (to Australia) - Distributor out here couldn't get any for 6-8 weeks!!!

OK, I'll bite a little - just because I'm getting bored of reading about motherboards and key contacts and dodgy RAM and DVD restores and things. Blah! I like to read about people's clever tricks with AMS routing, new ways of using the vintage synth engine with the new and stuff. These are what brings this instrument to life. Anyway…

FWIW My Kronos61 has been flawless - I love it. I can't really see what people's complaints about the build quality is. Mine has a very good flight case and is looked after but still gigged 4 hours almost every night. (I hope the end cheeks last longer than my Extreme's though ;-) )

But, I've heard some complain about the chassis not being strong enough or not going back together properly after taking the instrument apart... Is the issue not with the chassis flexing with different techniques, situations or stands and not at all with the rubber contacts - because as far as I can see, there can't be much difference in the replacements - whatever colour or serial number or country. Some have no problem - the majority, I'd imagine - and others have been so unlucky to need 4 replacements...
