Yup those HD 650 phones seem to be quite popular, and just looking at the headphone sales ranking on thomann.de shop the HD 650 ranks at 5 even though they are much pricier than any others in the list, so I think this is a positive statistic. I would also like to try out the Sennheiser HD 800 model which Kevin was saying sound absolutely superb, but at £1,000 so they should. Anyway, we'll see..all depends how generous Santa is this year, hehe. In fact thinking about it I have K&H monitors and seeing as they are part of the Sennheiser group, so I wonder if their phones would work well together as part of my monitoring setup. That may be just the excuse I need to get a pair :)

I havent heard about the 'breaking in' advice re the HD 650's but I expect since they have similar diaphragm type mechanics as most monitoring systems then a few hours of listening at reasonable level would assist in settling them in.

Thanks for that info Sina. Yes, I started reading that review the other day that Akos posted and then got side tracked...I think I was called for dinner :)...so will have to finish that. Will also read up on those Sony models you suggest as well a couple of AKG models that were mentioned...hmm, decisions, decisions. :)

Anyway, cheers matey.

I'm an immature idiot in my mid-40's (and at my age - it's _really_ important to get that right!!)
:P
Here here, Kevin! I'm 46 and I sleep with my dog....

That is.....when I'm not Sleeping With My OASYS!

You know, I saw this thread was 6 pages long and I just knew there was more than headphone talk going on.

For the record, I had an "image removed by moderator!" Yes, Sharp himself. (My half-naked son with a machine gun, I believe. To me, it's a cute pic, because he's really into it, but not really relevant to this forum. Ha ha!) I think what may confuse people is that this is actually a private forum, if I'm not mistaken. Sharp owns it and he can deem what crosses his line or not.

Oh, for the record I use a fairly cheap model of Bose headphones with my OASYS. Thanks for all the recommendations!

Mike, thank you for joining. Excuse me, on your picture you are not kissing sexually with your (nice) dog. Therefore this picture is surely not against the rules of the forum. Hedegaard's porn picture is the opposite.

I think it's a public place because everybody can read - no registering required. But private or public, there are forum rules that we all accepted. Now somebody (I mean Hedegaard) obviously broke this agreement - and some members simply don't care but other members (AnthonyB, cello, ozy and me so far) don't like it.

Regardless of the endless debate, mocking, joking etc., this is the essence of the situation.

That's why I asked Sharp to comment it. He keeps quiet - I don't know why. I definitely think we need the moderator to resolve this case.

I don't want to force anything but I also don't want to be forced.

The forum rules exactly say: posting such material may lead to being banned. I don't wish this for Hedegaard and ozy at all. I only ask to remove the material that caused so much trouble among us here.

"banning" ME, now?!?

I have nothing to do with any picture! I didn't post any picture!

I never had anything to do with porn in my life!

You kidding? I am a coach in charge of dozens of teenagers!

Careful now, with what you say!

Hey, what eats you, man?

Now really stop that nonsense!

You hogged the forum, and now you are verging on defamation.

Sorry people for this post, but there's gotta be a limit to obnoxiousness

Hehe, like the photo Mike, although your dog does have a slightly worried look on his face, LOL....But they do keep you warm especially at this time of year, and certainly saves on heating bills :) Unfortunately I dont have a dog anymore, so I have to make do with my pet gerbil.....but it obviously doesnt have quite the same effect, and its still -10 here...oh well. :)....and no references to one well known hollywood actor please :)

Anyway, getting back to the topic of headphones, I just remembered I also have a pair of Sony MDR-NC5 which my father once bought for travelling, as they have noise cancellation. They are not particularly special phones and I wouldnt rely on them for serious studio work, but then they are only about £30 so what does one expect. And for general listening especially in noisier surroundings they sound fine, and are useful as another comparison.

Re this thread, do you fancy a little wager as to whether it will become longer than that other fateful thread "Official statement on the status and future of the OASYS"

Hmmmm....ain't nowt so queer as folk :)

Yes. Unfortunately many comments from ozy - including his last furious one above abusing me - exactly fall in this category which is against the forum rules:
You agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-oriented or any other material...
It's better to calm down. I don't wish ozy to be banned.

There is no case.
Again, you politely asked me to remove my post.
I politely disagreed.

Can you accept that, and move on, without bringing in Sharp?
(But yes I agree with you, strange that Sharp isn't present here)

But I'm not unreasonable:
I'll remove the post, if Sharp wants me to, but I just don't feel its necessary, its on the first page, we're on page 6 already in this thread.
The picture is in context of the thread about headphones, it was a joke (which should be obvious)

Ozy, the picture of your "headphones" offend me because:
1) the grey couch is dull looking
2) a man with closed eyes is sleeping - its SEXUAL!
3) The book he was reading is probably some propaganda material from pre-world war 2
4) Its against my religion to see a man with grey hair sleep with an orange buttoned shirt.
5) I'll be sure to reference all of these things in the next 50 posts I make in this thread.

:) and  about all of this.............

PS- Akos:
1) So what if children see this thread - didn't you know that the internet is not for children unless supervised?
2) What "child" owns an Oasys anyway? Unless they have some rich Baron as an uncle.
3) No hard feelings :)[/i]

you're right. A man sleeping through it... That's a good description of MY sexual life...

At least the guy smiles, though. You know, advertising always shows life through pink lenses...

[oh, darn... my wife is gonna read this and kill me  ]

This is a precedent case. If that picture can stay published regardless of the forum rules and protestation then we really have to think over if this is the appropriate site for us.
Hedegaard wrote:Again, you politely asked me to remove my post.

Unfortunately, not. We are members with equal rights here on this common forum. You did something, I don't like that. Some members support you, others support me. We can't agree. That's why I had to apply to Sharp. Not as another subjective person but as a moderator who knows the rules of the forum, knows how to apply them and has the right for that.
Hedegaard wrote:But I'm not unreasonable:

This is fair. This is "adult" mentality - in the original good sense of this word.
Hedegaard wrote: ...but I just don't feel its necessary, its on the first page, we're on page 6 already in this thread.
I feel it doesn't matter which page contains it. (Also, there is no such "passage" in forum rules.)
Hedegaard wrote:The picture is in context of the thread about headphones, it was a joke (which should be obvious)
I appreciate your sense of humour and intelligence - but I can't laugh now. Joke or not: porn that breaks the rules.
Hedegaard wrote:Ozy, the picture of your "headphones" offend me because:

Please stop mocking on the forum rules, on religious people, on me. Please also note, I'm not mocking on you, your sexual taste, your faith, your feelings.
Hedegaard wrote: 1) So what if children see this thread - didn't you know that the internet is not for children unless supervised?
Sorry, first I have to say I find this cynicism.

So, you really want parents to sit next to their child when they visit Korgforums.com, the famous music site - because of your porn picture?
Hedegaard wrote:2) What "child" owns an Oasys anyway? Unless they have some rich Baron as an uncle.
Please read cello's opinion for example:
cello wrote:I too want to lend support to the view that the picture was inappropriate ... on a music/Korg/information exchange website.

...I'm afraid I'm old enough to remember that there are juniors here on this forum and legally shouldn't really be able to view this TYPE of image - a parent may be happily thinking that KF is a safe place for their 14yr old to visit - it's a music/keyboard site isn't it?

...I think it is a little sad that the 'top of the tree' forum, where many youngsters may want to be able to contribute one day when they have enough money (ie OASYS - or whatever it is then!), is the very one that has something that they really shouldn't be seeing HERE (not somewhere else - but here)...
And another thought if we talk about children:
ozy wrote:I never had anything to do with porn in my life!
...
I am a coach in charge of dozens of teenagers!
What would happen if parents of those children visited this forum and read this about the "naughty girls"? Do you believe they would be furious? I bet yes.

Hi t_tangent,

Thank you. I don't agree with you but I respect your opinion.

Well, this is a free place with equal rights for us, members. So, based on this, can we post anything here? Certainly, not. Even if we personally like it or we think it's right. In my opinion: #1. We must follow the rules of the forum. #2. We should try to not offend or insult each other (which is generally also included in #1). If a post fulfills these requirements then it's OK to keep. Do you guys agree with this?

If a post doesn't fulfill these rules then it should be removed. The picture in Hedegaard's post is off topic (against rule #1) and offending (against #2) - even if I'm the only one who noted. That's why I kindly asked him to remove. Why it's so hard to understand it?

Ozy came only right after this. Please note without anything useful to contribute regarding the topic. And now left - after ruining it.
t_tangent wrote:By the way, I am 46 and British with some Irish ancesty...
For example, you certainly don't want me to post the best jokes about Irish or British people here, do you? Even if I like them very much I won't publish because these could be insulting. Even if they are about Irish people with headphones on.
akos i find your posts iriritating and to me this is very offensive. I am being serious, i find all of your posts on this topic very offensive as i dont like people irritating me. So as you say can we please stick to rule #2 and have all of your posts removed. please explain were you draw the line with causing offence.

Akos you wrote
I strongly believe in God (and I'm not a fanatic or freak at all). Next time maybe I will tell my story how he healed me from cancer. I respect life, people, men and women, children.

I am an Atheist and find the superstitous nonsense of a personal god very offensive. please can we stick to the rules? Im offended. Im deeply offended.
