OK. I took the above memory that didn't work back and picked up a 1 GB Patroit stick PSD21G80081 PC2-6400 800Mhz CL5.
No joy!
I hope this isn't something I'm doing. It just plugs in. I get a fail in the boot up.
I need to get this done so I can stop taking my brand new keyboard apart!
Can someone tell me of a sure fire memory that will work. I'll mail order it if need be.
George

Sorry to, hear your having problems George. The recommended memory is:
240-Pin PC2-6400 CL-5 (or CL-6) DDR2-800 non-ECC Unbuffered DIMM 1GB
also check THIS THREAD Out for more
On the contrary, I havent yet brought any RAM, *BUT*, I found some in my old pc (Tracer ballistix) and that works. However, I'm a little worried that because its not the right spec, it may damage components on MOBO later on down the line (it was PC2-8500, and 1066 speed - so although it worked, id rather get the correct memory)
I'll be ordering this ram, http://www.ebuyer.com/196898-kingston-2 ... escription and would "expect" it to work. However, I'm surprised youv'e put two sticks of ram in and had no result TBH.

After looking through all the memory threads it seems the memory I bought should have worked. I decided to try again. No go. I pulled out the stock memory and powered up with no RAM. Same error! I thought I would try it in my desktop computer. There, it worked. Then I put the 1GB Crucial removed from my desktop in the Kronos and it worked! Go figure. Closed them up...done.

Re: Video of second SSD installed.
Hi Sharp,
Just wanted to personally Thank you for your efforts for putting up this video. It was very helpfull, especially the last part with THE cables and connection ports.
I installed extra ram and installed 120 GB ssd without any problems.
Now I have a Korg Kronos XX!!! Yeah!
Thank you!

A little look at my second drive I had installed.
120GB OCZ Agility 3 SATA 3
Regards
Sharp.

Thanks so much for that video. It convinced me to go get an OCZ3 SSD and 4GB or RAM right after my Kronos arrived
If it hasn't been mentioned yet: One -must- upgrade to Kronos OS v2.0+ (2.0.2 for me) prior to installing the 2nd SSD -- otherwise it's considered a USB peripheral and it can only be formatted as FAT16/FAT32, which you probably don't want.
One big 'gotcha' that may not have been mentioned (or I just was barging ahead without reading everyone's comments first!): My Kronos had the factory SSD plugged into the SATA1 port on the motherboard -- fine if it was the only drive in the system, as the BIOS looks for the first SSD to boot, but if one adds a second SSD and plugs that into SATA0 (which was empty when I opened up my board), the Kronos gives a scary boot failure message! So when adding a second SSD the original drive cable must be moved to SATA0 and the new drive then plugged into SATA1 so it's found AFTER the boot drive.
Also, the video shows that, beside the RAM slots is a label with the model # of the motherboard, CPU-D510MO(b). I googled it and it's a stock Intel motherboard! I might order one of those before they become obsolete, for spare parts just in case...
CPU-D510MO(B)
http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B003 ... B003374OWW
And one final thing: I noticed there's an unmarked USB key plugged into one of the slots by the far right of the motherboard. I'm curious and may yank it.. wonder what's on it? Has anyone else already pulled it and imaged it? (Kronos unique ID/auth key? boot code?)

SATA cable: should it be M to F, M to M or F to F ?
DoubleM wrote:Hi Sharp,
thanks for the info. Doesn´t look too difficult, but one more question:
Guessing the (yellow) connecting cable isn´t included when ordering a ssd, how long is the cable you used? Is 0,5 m sufficient?
Question concerning the SATA cable: should it be M to F, M to M or F to F ?
Just installed the 2nd SSD (OCZ Agility 3 128Gb) following the instructions here and the video of Sharp. Works like a charm!
The cable I bought is a standard 50cm SATA3 right-angle cable. It's tight in length, but it just fits
The 4 little screws to fix the SSD into the Kronos (that did not come with the Agility SSD) were harder to find. I took one screw out of the existing drive, and drove 15km's here to find a shop that had this little screws. But it worked!
Thanks for all the good instructions in this post

Yes, the power cable is already inside, attached to the power supply.
So you only need 1x SSD drive and 1x SATA cable (preferabbly with a 90 degrees angle on one side).
