Kwality Kreep: Krome is Krap

Post by sodastream »

I've owned a Korg Krome-88 for 4 years now. During that time it's been fully operational for maximum a couple of months at a time.

The performance is amazing, in theory. In practice the board spends a lot of its life at a service center. First the click/pop problem. My board had a main board transplant before Korg realized what the problem was and replaced the SD card. It took them years, even though people on this forum had found the solution.

After two years of light use I had contact strips replaced because certain notes would go maximum velocity regardless of touch.

Now most of my C# and some D# keys have that maximum velocity problem again. Others are muffled. Is the idea to replace contact strips every year perhaps?

This is quality creep, quality is somewhere else. This is crap. Expensive crap. After scanning the last few pagefuls of this forum I found the following threads treating the above two problems. There are more, there are others.
