Polysix problem! This many views and no one can help??

Post by hollywoodjohnny »

I'm using the 'Thick Synth Bass' preset in the Korg Polysix and I noticed that the tone of the bass changes if I stop the track, and then start it again. It changes like 3 different times. It doesn't change while the track is playing....at least not that I've noticed yet, but only when I stop and start the track in my DAW. The tone goes from very powerful and deep, to a more dirty sounding Bass guitar'ish tone, to something that has no Low End in it.

Can anyone tell me why it does this? I turned the Analog down to zero. Is there something I am overlooking here? If anyone can shed some light on this problem, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!!!

Is there any CC data recorded on the track as well or just notes?

no, there is no CC data. someone on another forum said that there might be an LFO running to something on the preset.

Well, it's gotta be something that your DAW is sending out. Check out the options to see if you can customize messages sent on a MIDI track when Stop is pressed.

Which sequencer program are you using?

I have noticed that at least Cubase 4 seems to have problems with Wavestation VSTi (I don't have the analog collection yet, so no idea about Polysix specifically).

If you open the synth GUI and then stop playback, do you see some knobs move?

its phasing isnt it? Its becuase there is more than one oscillator. Its not a bug, its just the way synths work. I had the exact same thing today on by bassline i made in Rob Papen bLUE. (great synth!) If its not the ocs's phasing its another setting.

To get around I have to record the bassline tru an outboard eq and just listen and watch the wav as its recorded. To make sure that you get it with the bass. Then I just choped-out the bit with the bass and used that.

I bet thats what it is, if not I have no idea.
