can M3 combi"towards the sun" be converted to kron
just wondering if m3 combi "towards the sun"can be converted for kronos, with all the same karma settings and ge's, its my favorite combi from the M3.
I'm pretty sure yes... fairly easily. All the progs are there and the GE's are also there. Should be able to get it pretty close with a little effort.
Current Korg Gear: KRONOS 88 (4GB), M50-73 (PS mod), RADIAS-73, Electribe MX, Triton Pro (MOSS, SCSI, CF, 64MB RAM), SQ-64, DVP-1, MEX-8000, MR-1, KAOSSilator, nanoKey, nanoKontrol, 3x nanoPad 2, 3x DS1H, 7x PS1, FC7 (yes Korg, NOT Yamaha).

I would have thought that the GE's would be the same since it's the same version of KARMA but obviously not.
In any case this is a long shot but give this a try. I looked up the names of the GE from the M3 in the Kronos Voice Name List and found the following matching names. I don't have a Kronos yet so I can't verify that they are the same but it's worth a try.
Module A - Synco Pop (M3=1777 ... Kronos = 75)
Module B - WaveSeq 1 (M3=2043 ... Kronos=2002)
Module C - Back Beat Bass (M3=1066 ... Kromos=1059)
Module D - Ethereal Twinklings (M3=2024 ... Kronos=1992)
Good luck with the rest of the parameters.

I'm pretty sure there's a post where Stephen said all the stock M3 GE's are in the Kronos. I have no idea for certain, but I seem to recall him stating that on a post someplace.jemkeys25 wrote:no, the ge's aren't in the kronos, can anyone with an m3 post the program, I would really appreciate it.

There are several issues here, with converting that particular combi (or any M3 combi):
1. The GE list in the Kronos is different (slightly) from M3. Additional GEs were added, and the list was resorted. So Bald Eagle is correct. Those same GEs exist, in a different location.
2. "Towards the Sun" is a fantastic, evocative combi from the M3 done by myself and veteran Karma-Lab programmer Paul Osborn.
3. Combi A000 "Era of Kronos" is a redone version of "Towards the Sun". They asked me to convert that M3 combi to Kronos. It's not easy, but I did it. They then took it, renamed it, and various other programmers modified it. So it ended up turning into something quite different.
4. Porting a combi from M3 to Kronos is very difficult, although it can be done...but I don't really have a set of instructions for you. A lot of what I do to convert these things requires proprietary software written by myself, to accomplish a specific task at hand.

Thanks, Stephen! That is really a great combi. I adapted it for my needs and it is my favourite of modified presets. Sad that we have to rebuild on Kronos everything from scratch.StephenKay wrote:...2. Well, this explains why that combi is particularly awesome. I really didn't know this before, or that Paul was involved with Karma-Lab. I remember very well the outstanding performances Paul programmed for the Wavestation -- those were some of the best banks ever released for that synth. Good to see he's working with you, Stephen.StephenKay wrote: 2. "Towards the Sun" is a fantastic, evocative combi from the M3 done by myself and veteran Karma-Lab programmer Paul Osborn.

+1! Those two dreamwave volumes were fantastic and I still use them today.HardSync wrote:I remember very well the outstanding performances Paul programmed for the Wavestation -- those were some of the best banks ever released for that synth. I know i can do it, using KM3 and also the Kronos Software when it comes
out but what for? I would probably come VERY close to original if not 100%
but again what for? It would take me DAYS to do that.

Maybe it's a bit strange to write, but why would you want an exact 100% copy? Maybe for old music, but why not selecting better programs available or possible with the Kronos? Except for some time needing to find better ones.
