Can you do that? So that you can tweak around and save but always have the original?

Sure. Just press utility/write and choose a new location.

Right now there is only one completely empty bank (U-G), with a some various EXi slots available in a few other User preset banks. But we are going to be getting a crap-ton more (either 8 or 16 - I can't remember) completely empty user banks when OS 1.5 is released in a couple weeks.

Right now, that's what I'm waiting on before loading up a bunch of samples and some of the downloadable banks from the download section of this site. that way I won't have to load/unload what I have in order to test out some of the sounds.

Well mine is (hopefully) arriving in 2 weeks. Just in time for the update.
I presume you download 1.5 from the Korg website.

Whats the procedure for this? Register your Kronos on the site using your Serial number?

I am trying to do my homework for all the basic stuff before it arrives.

Your knowledge and advice is really appreciated chaps.

7, I believe. As in, program bank User A up to User G each get an extra bank behind their hardware button.

By the way, if all you're worried about is ruining the actual sound you want to edit, it'll always be reloadable from the SSD (or downloadable from the internet).

Right now I think the main trouble is that you might edit a sound that is being used in a combi, thereby "ruining" the combi.

So i copy a sound to a user preset, I can then edit it without effecting the original, give it a new name etc........?

Yes. The original sound has its own location, and if you didn't change it, then any combis that contain it will remain unchanged as well. Your adjusted sound which now lies in a different location, i.e. user preset, can then be changed at will and with no unexpected results. The only possible unexpected result would occur if you assigned that changed sound to a location that resulted in that location also being in an existing combi as an assigned program. i.e. If you use a user preset location that you have previously used before and inserted it into a combi, this could be the result.

Soon I will support in my app (see signature) the possibility to copy programs, combis and set list slots from one PCG to another. When you copy combis, also all used programs can be copied easily and when copying set list slots, the used programs and combis (and used programs) can be copied.
