Next batch next year?

Post by michelkeijzers »

According to dwstore.com (Europe), the next delivery of Korg Kronos 73/88 is January 6, 2012 and for the Kronos 61 even March 3, 2012 ... that's almost half a year!

Another store owner said not to expect a Korg Kronos 61 this year so it seems the slow delivery will take on for more than half a year here in Europe while in the US stores state it is available directly.

I will refrain from 'conclusions' about this 'marketing strategy'.

That info doesn't seem logical to me. If you are in Europe, why wouldn't you just order from a supplier here? I think you would have to pay VAT in either case, and of course, shipping. In addition, if you are in England, the pound exchange rate it very good vs the dollar. :)
Kronos 2 61, Wavestation A/D, Yamaha Genos and others.

I'm not in England, we have euros (not that good lately too). It saves about E 200 or so, but IF there warranty is not guaranteed (and for own cost).

I think it depends on the dealer, but not on the country. Big dealers get the goods before the little ones. This is my experience ordering from different dealers in the U.S. and Europe.

The major seller in Europe does not even put it on their web site because of the low availability.

Granted problems due to Tsunami/earthquake probably haven't helped but has anyone from Korg actually Provided any info as to the delays???I wonder how much longer some people will wait before frustration kicks in and they decide to cancel preorder altogether given all these build qualities some are experiencing...or are Korg addressing this and this is the reasoning behind lack of supplies

That would be good to know. If there are known build quality issues impacting a majority of customers, we all are owed that explanation and the chance to bring the board back for whatever "fixes" they are doing!

They are probably addressing the hardware fixes, so I'd be glad to wait to get a flawless product than a buddy product (specifically 73 and 88)

If that is the case, then I fully understand it. I'm willing to wait (I'm not in a hurry) and its best to set out good products (even when a fix is needed).

Always best to refrain from conclusions. First to consider is the general accuracy of such projections from salespeople, who tend to be far removed from the supply chain.

I don't know about delivery schedules, but I will say this: remember that Korg is not a global company. Each country has a Korg Distributor, which in most cases is an independently owned business. Those businesses order stock from Korg. If one country has more stock than another, it means that the distributor in that country ordered more.

There you have it.

In the US Kronos is in stock and available. Certain retailers ordered early and in quantity.

In some countries, the independent distributor, chose not to plan, or chose to not take inventory risk, by not ordering larger quantities .

It seems some folks are looking for more speculative reasons, based on data they do not have. I have made this comment a few times.

Thanks for answering ... then probably the European distributors are quite conservative.
