I have found ambiguous answers in both the PG and the OG re this.
Anyone have input on this... Do I absolutely need this CF?
If so, any leads on the best place to get one?
Thanks

You should be able to find CF cards on Ebay or Amazon. They're still relatively common.
I'm not sure, but I thought the Extreme supported USB stick too? (has USB-A host ports?)
Samples have to be loaded from some form of media at power-on because they go into RAM - which just like in your computer where programs and OS are loaded from the hard drive into RAM - it is temporary high-speed storage which doesn't keep its contents at power off.
Programs then 'point to' or 'reference' these RAM sample locations - the samples themselves aren't actually stored in the program data. Programs are just assortments of various parameters for the various functions and FX in the synth which tells it the settings in how to make a sound.

Needed Important Update for Korg Triton Extreme
Hello all,
I hope if Korg could support us a new update after 1.06 that enables auto load for samples that can be selected previously when saving sampling data i think a check box could be appeared in saving sampling data wizard,
that's my idea.
Greetings to those professional programmers and developers whom i do/n't
know Specially Michel Keijzers.

There are plenty of CF cards available because their speeds are still so much higher than SD-cards - they're still a standard in the pro digital photo world and probably will be for a while.
Yes, you need one to save the samples - actually you MIGHT be able to save them to a standard usb stick, not entirely sure. It's really useful to have one too anyways, it fits inside unlike a usb stick and they're not that expensive.
I don't think they're going to update the Extreme anymore, especially not with one of the key features of their new Kronos board. Would be nice, but it takes me maybe ten seconds to navigate to the setup I want and click load.

I don't check every post so I guess I missed this one.
As Sander already wrote, the chance for a new update for the Extreme is very small. Even the M3/M50 are already considered old.
