Great playing and arrangement. Some parts sound fairly realistic, but overall it has sort of a nintendo (for lack of better world) sound to the lead. Which is by no fault of the player.

I'd say that's about as good as your going to get the stock electric guitars to sound in the Kronos.

That combi is great. Last night, I jammed with my 3-year old on that combi (he was playing the Kronos and I was playing the PC3 and the Moog).

I took a video with my phone, but it's probably not fit for public consumption.

Very fake-y. It's neither your fault nor the Kronos's fault. A Keyboard elec guitar just sounds lame.

For those of us who can't play, but love the elec guitar, it's a great programme to jam around with.
Great for blowing the cobwebs away.

Only a week in and loving my Kronos. :D

TS-10 anyone?

Post by BergerS »

Did any of you try the old Ensoniq TS-10 distorted guitars?
Its not actually a sound (the basic sample is very poor), but how they managed to make the effect respond to your playing.

I don't have recording option to upload sounds I'm afraid, but these Ensoniq engineers just new how to create a musical instrument with a very limited technological horse power.

I guess what sounds "lame" is in the ear of the beholder. I REALLY liked the jam Runningman. I like your technique and I imagine that with a little tweaking you could get that guitar REALLY shredding.

It is not my intent to get nasty here but it seems to me that Korg have done a decent job thus far with electric guitars but to say that what we are getting from STR-1 is about as good as it will get makes no sense to me unless the person who made the statement has delved deeply into STR-1. Modelling is always a lot harder but I think that STR-1, while not ever being able to replace an actual guitar player, CAN provide - with time and patience - an excellent stand in for compositional purposes and really, there is nothing at all wrong with doing "guitar" on keys. It never hurt Enigma for example.

But, to each her/his own. NICE job Runningman! Keep 'em coming :)

Ahimsa,
Vlad
Current gear: Kronos, Jupiter 80, Kurzweil PC3,Roland Fantom X8, Roland XV-88 (yep, its old, but the ACTION is heaven and those XV-3080 sounds are still wonderful for me), Radias-R, Motif ES (yeah it's older but I love the guitars ;) )

Guitars on keyboards always splits opinions. I've not done much tweaking yet, I just came across the programme and it was a bit spontaneous really.

I got some chords going and a rough melody and went for it. Its great knowing that some listeners enjoyed it.

Cheers

Thanks Arne.

You can use the vector controller to bring the snare drum in and out which is neat.

Chris was not being derogatory.. his "lame" comment had nothing to do with the Kronos, the samples, or the playing thereof.. the Kronos is a keyboard, a guitar isnt. its that simple.

Acoustic guitars sound fake, electric guitars sound fake..its just a fact.

You think guitar sound fake......you should here keyboards on guitar

Excellent work!

The real problem is guitar players are just jealous, they only get 6 notes, require lot's of effects, and about 1 week of practice to be consider a guitar player

I hope I've only offended guitar player with this comment. (at a dime a dozen, there's got to be a few who'll read this.)
