Variable sound levels on gig - fault..???

Just played a theatre gig and Kronos was jumping betweed loud to quiet output signal for no apparent reason, giving the sound guy a hard time trying to get a level, not to mention giving me a hard time!!

Will investigate further tomorrow, may be cables or something.

Did reboot after gig and sounds came back to normal level, which gives me an uneasy feeling something is awry with my K somewhere. Fingers crossed it's cables tho.

Just wondered if anyone else experienced similar...

Vector joystick, perhaps?

I've been caught by the vector thing too.
It's right there between joystick and the the main volume.

Go to global/controllers and set vector to off in both fields and save it.

I disabled the VJS for most combis I use live because I noticed when changing the volume knob by hand I accidentally sometimes touched the VJS.

The first time I used my Kronos during rehearsals, I noticed the same thing. A lot of difference in volume between some programs.

For example, I-A006 is my favorite piano program, and I noticed it has a compressor active. After that, use one of the E.Piano's and you'll notice those are much more quiet.

Set lists can help you out, because each item in the set list can have its own volume setting. I set those at 100 by default, so I can push the more silent programs to 127.

Same here ... I also put all levels to 100.

And I also lower most volums of combis to 100 (keeping balances equal).

Go to edit in set list and adjust all of your volumes accordingly. I do this in my rehearsals and it just works! When I'm stepping through my patches in set list mode I never ever have a volume problem. Plus, if something is too loud for a specific part of a song I just use my expression pedal. If I'm not loud enough, I throw an empty beer bottle at my guitar player!

Think it must have been the vector controller. I disabled and problem didn't occur again. Wasn't touching it or going anywhere near it, vibrations from playing must have disturbed it! Anyway, thanks for the quick replies!
