Copy Voice - into Combi - question
Hi,
Sorry if this has been asked, but how is it that I can copy a voice with it's Ifx routing in tact, into a Combi?
I'd like not to have to rebuild the patch and efx, but yet just copy say 2-3 synths already in use providing the efx are available, is this possible w/ kronos?
thanks for any insight

I think what you mean is to copy programs into a combi?
You can do this easily, go to the program, then to the combi, select copy from program, copy it completely (including all effects), then for the next program copy the program and select the used effects.
Best is to copy the most important program first.
You get a warning when all effects are used. In that case you have to manually change the IFXs but for the first programs to copy you probably will not run into problems.

I'm a bit confused now, after trying this out.For example, if I copy a Patch that contains 4 IFX, I now have a total of 12 more IFX left.
Problem is, I'd like to copy another couple of programs, these other programs only have 2 IFX a piece, so this brings me to 8 IFX used, cool...
I'm having an issue, after I copy the first patch, into the combi (works fine) , but then when I try and copy a second patch into the same combi, it overwrites the entire combi?
Is there anyway around this besides rebuilding the patches from scratch again? Perhaps I'm missing a step.. All I'd like to do is play a few patches at the same time, using the original sound designers method for the patches, n layer them in a combi, a bit like my Yamaha Motif XS can do..
Any idea's? thnx

if you use the menu option: copy from program then default the selected timbre at the bottom of that menu option points to timbre 1. If you copy a second program change timbre 1 to timbre 2 otherwise the timbre 1 will be overwritten again with the program you are copying.bobbybland wrote:I'm having an issue, after I copy the first patch, into the combi (works fine) , but then when I try and copy a second patch into the same combi, it overwrites the entire combi?

Thanks q, I'll have another go at it, I was definitely doing that, eg: changing the timbre like you mention for the new patch in the combi, but when I went back to view the new IFX assignment, it just overwrote it.qrobinez wrote:if you use the menu option: copy from program then default the selected timbre at the bottom of that menu option points to timbre 1. Thanks for the reply, BTW I'm very interested to know if you have any theremin patches available in your soundsets for sale?

I myself too can't copy several programmes into one combi without overwriting the IFX-settings from the previous copied programme. So I would inser the most important programme LAST, because that way you at least get the IFX-effects you're after for THAT particular programme.
If there is a way around this, please let me know as well!
I would love to be able to copy the IFX-settings from every chosen programme into empty slots, as long as there is still the needed resources to do so.

You can select if you want to copy everything or only the used IFX-es. If you select that options than IF there are enough free IFX-es those are copied and the rest is left alone.

A few side questions to this:
* What's actually the use of copying everything instead of just the IFX that are used (why would anyone want to copy more than the used effects)?
* Are the used IFX only the IFX that are turned on?

Not silly at all ... I discovered about some features so late that I already owned a synth that got that feature, just because my workflow was always equal (sometimes it help to read a manual, or even take a glance at some pages even if you use the synth for a long time).Kim wrote:Thanks Michel, now I finally got it! Never tried to check the IFXs- all used option! Silly me...

Afaik, only the used IFXs are copied and not the MFX and TFXs. Also I think that if you select only the used IFxs they are relocated.Yuma wrote:A few side questions to this:

I don't know if the Kronos is so smart to automatically move up effects to create more IFX space.

I also had a hard time with organising the IFX routings when copying programs. But I managed.
Check out the Cut IFX slot and Clean up IFX routing commands. You can use them in the Insert FX tab from the pull down menu.
With cut IFX you can delete an unused IFX slot and it automatic move the used IFX slots one place up. So you can free up the unused slots at the bottom, so you can copy another program with used IFX.
The Clean up IFX routing command automaticly rearange unused IFX slots so they are consecutive. Very handy. See the parameter guide page 161.
Inwas very happy discovering this features.

Actually before I started PCG Tools I have thought about a way to combine multiple programs into one and more or less automatically combine the used IFXs, TFXs and MFXs but it is very hard (depending on how smart it would work).
One thing that I would really like is to automatically remove empty spaces between used IFXs so that a range of IFXs are empty to add another program (including IFXs).
