Korg UK web site is no more : (

Post by Broadwave »

The korg UK web site has been laid to rest... It's been swallowed up by www.korg.com

Not that it matters I suppose, it's just that the UK site often had more recent drivers etc. than the US one.

Interesting. Does this mean something about corporate restructuring of Korg? Is Korg US now the distributor for US and UK?

Correct: www.korg.com
Incorrectly: www.korg.com. (as described above)

Another chip away at the UK side of things.

Certain management didnt even want a support site when I worked there. Seems like they have got their way and more now.

I used to go to korg.co.uk for their MIDI exclusive documents for mainly older synths. I copied them but I hope all such documents of older synths are or will be stored in the support page of the korg.com site.

So, www.korg.com now has at the bottom a link for choosing your country. If you choose Australia, UK, or US, you get an appropriately targeted site. Germany, Spain, and Japan still take you to the www.korg.de, www.korg.es, and www.korg.co.jp, respectively.

Very interesting.

Looks like Korg UK Site has been absorbed into the USA server. If you click the UK flag and go to the bottom and see about us, it tells you about Korg UK and some history. So the bottom line seems to be they are cost cutting and moving everything central. One Japanese site one English language site and the rest for the bigger distributors worldwide.

And before the website gets taken down completely, here are some extracts which may become useful one day when everything has to be done via some online only support site.

Well if this is true this is a massive step backwards. Tuesdays - Fridays: 14:00 -17:00

When I started doing support in 2002 it was 2 afternoons a week only.

Changing it to morning and afternoon sessions 5 days a week, hopefully benefited users, but musicians don't work 9-5 and that is what they still don't seem to understand. 9-5 is barely acceptable as support. Musicians work after office hours predominantly and need support there and then but that is when Korg USA are live, when the UK are in the evening. But you cant call the USA as you didn't buy your product from them even though the promotion of the Korg banner tries to be strong. If they are only offering limited support it shows that there is still no forward thinking there and past and future comments on this forum only damage reputations despite average marketing efforts.

I for one am really sad that support and the web site has gone from the UK division. It was never taken seriously and never will be until personnel change.

Somewhat surreptitiously done in my view - doing the change when there's lots of noise being generated by NAMM.

I take a dim view of such shenanigans. Shows very little concern or respect for customers.

Actually traditionally a FQDN should have a trailing dot.. however many web servers are probably not set up to recognise it:
