Forum Changes - Input Please.
Hi all.
Over the last few weeks I've been thinking about changing the categories of the forum and I'd like your feedback.
“KORG Family” is renamed to “KORG Digital”.
A new category called “KORG Analog” will be created.
New dedicated sections will then be added to this for the MS20, Volca series. Monotron and Monotribe.
A new section called “KORG Arrangers” is added, and all the current arrangers are moved to that section.
The “Korg DS-10” gets renamed to “KORG DS/3DS” and moved to the KORG Digital Section.
I'm thinking about deleting the KARMA Triton Section and updating the FAQ to link to Karma Lab forums.
If you have any suggestions on all this or something else that should be considered please let me know.
After these changes, given a little time for people to settle into the new layout, I'm then hoping we can move to phpBB 3 and introduce Tap Talk.
Regards
Sharp.

Good point. Didn't think of that.
I hope we can move to phpBB3 soon too. When a spammer floods the forum, there's no deleting posts one by one. You have an option to delete everything posted by the spammer with a single click.
Adding Tap Talk has been on many peoples wish list too.

Good ideas .... however please do not use sub groups (groups within groups). I like the simple structure now: <Group> / <Post>.
Having variable sub groups makes it a lot more difficult to quickly scan which groups have been changed or not; one would need to open all groups to check if there might be sub groups within which have been changed.

Good idea Sharp.
I think it will make the Forums much easier to maneuver especially for newer members.
Cheers

Hi Sharp,
only one suggestion for the Oasys section: please put a sub cathegorie "Repair" to it where we can put repair tipps etc into it or report to moderators to put them into; more and more topics occur about repairing etc and often people don´t find the topics with the search function
best regards

I still feel uneasy with threads about the new KK buried in the general synths and news sections. It really needs it's own section IMHO, being Korg's main VA for now.

Hi Sharp -
Very much like your new proposals and great to see a section for the new analogue gear.
Two recommendations:
What about a "Virtual Analogue" section including microKorg, R3, Radias and KK
Also - recommend a "Legacy" section header for all previous / old / obscure Korg gear and leaving Karma Triton in - over the long term it's arguably desirable to provide for the full legacy of Korg and Korg related products on THE seminal Korg forum online - just makes it complete and doen't cost (perhaps making the Legacy section the lowest one).
Kevin.

Hi all.
Ok, so I've made all those changes and most of what was suggested.
I've left the new Analog and Virtual Analog sections much higher on the forum than the Workstation sections as a trial.
I want to see if doing this helps push the new Analog sections, and also makes people take a look around the other areas of the forum.
If there is no difference in the movment of traffic, I will put the workstation section back on top.
Regards

looks great,
the only thing that i would change is to merge the oasys and Kronos forums, since there's so much overlap between the two workstations. But probably most people will not like this.
I really like the idea to divide the forum threads in analog and digital.
Thanks for all your hard work (and the moderators too)!

Looks good, Sharp. I have to agree with Qui about merging the Oasys & Kronos forums. They really are the same instrument.
